This is according to a
report on DCMUD (the link is now fixed, sorry about that, but they changed their post title and broke my link). The report mostly grabs info from the really out of date
Starburst Plaza website (please check out the website if you need to review the plans for the plaza).

I realize we are pretty far down the road, but did anyone ever propose a new circle for the starburst? That seems to me that it would have been a great opportunity to re-unite the area to the rest of Washington, and create shared common space, as well as new opportunities for store fronts,
Yes, this post seems very out of date. An official from the DC Office of Planning attended a recent Rosedale Citizens Alliance meeting, and told us that construction was set to start in November. My impression was that the contract and plans had been approved some time ago. Early 2009 may still be the target completion date, although I would expect delays.
Also, I'm confused about the reference to DDOT needing a "neighborhood organization to take stewardship over it." What does that mean? If this is true, and the info is out of date, I wonder who was chosen.
That bit about a n'hood group needing to take stewardship over it made me think...there better be hookups on the plaza for hoses so the trees can be watered...especially if next Summer is like the past two...
Last I'd heard they hadn't yet found a group. They wanted some one to do things like water the bushes regularlly. they would definitely have a hook-up (see the fountain reference).

senate square is now listing luxury apartments for lease.
did the whole thing go rental or just part of it?
i'm outta the loop
senate square going rental has been rumored for a few weeks. That link seems to confirm that at least the back building is now going to be apartments.
I just saw the plan for the first time. I was expecting something more innovative- I thought the plaza would be more like a circle in the middle of the intersection, not just some trees planted at the side of the mall. I'm not sure something so small deserves the name "Starburst Plaza." (unless perhaps the trees were made of fruit-flavored candy!) The federal park service takes care of Logan Circle very well- maybe this small piece of land could be overseen by the feds as well. If the million dollar homeowners at Logan Circle aren't being held responsible for taking care of Logan Circle, the moderate and low income residents of NE shouldn't be held responsible for watering the grass and trees in our local green spaces.
hah, I saw someone dropping a number 2 in broad daylight in logan circle a couple of months ago. I had to do a double take and almost crashed as I drove around the circle. I have never actually seen that on H st., even if I have seen my share of people peeing in allys and in corners.
That intersection is going to suck even more than it does know while they are doing the work, but at least the Hopscotch bridge won't rattle your fillings out anymore.
anon at 2:16,
all one needs to do to see folks taking a crapple in alleys off of H Street is just look a lil bit harder. And I've seen just as many ladies "assuming the position" as I have guys. Quite interesting.
I will submit, however, that a steady campaign of alley hosing, simple green, and bleach is winning the battle in our alley. Folks are actually beginning to show some respect.. they're at least going elsewhere to conduct their business.
