While I slept soundly on Florida, some neighbors to the north were not so lucky. Two reports surfaced on the 5D listserv this morning of shots. One report (from the vicinity of 16th & Queen) has two spurts of gunfire at about 10:45 from the direction of 16th and Oates. A second report (from Orren Street) reports 10 shots fired near the intersection of Orren and Oates at 11pm. These two locations aren't far apart, so it's not immediately clear to me if this is a case of someone moving down Oates shooting, or if both reporters heard the same shot (I'm guessing, and hoping, that it was the latter).
In a separate incident, shots were also reported at 18th & M (not too far from 16th & Queen). Police canvassed both areas, and found no injuries or property damage.

From the 1D listserv:
1d is currently working a shooting at 18th and D St NE –an adult male shot in arm – pending investigation
It's possible the two last night were the same...it's really hard to tell the direction when the sound is bouncing around.
But given the shots from early Saturday morning, that's at least two incidences of gunfire in a week around here after what seemed like a period of calm. We'll have to see what this week brings...
I've lived here 5 years and never heard so much gunfire before. It's nuts. I can only hope if these idiots shoot anyone, it's each other.
inked, speaking of listservs...is there a list of neighborhood listservs somewhere? i'd like to join my local ones but i'm not sure what options are out there.
Ataraxia,
that depends on where you live. I think the 6A listserv is useful for everyone. If you live in 6A you might also want to join that one. Hstreetdc is also good (but realize that lots of people cross post, so you will get duplicate mail). There is also a Trinidaddc listserv that you should definitely join if you live in Trinidad. There are also MPD1D & MPD5D listservs that a good for police stuff. There are also some others. Check the sidebar under Yahoo Groups (I don't think the MPD1D group is up there yet).
Thanks -- should have looked around the website a little more carefully!
