At first I thought it was a joke, or some kind of mistake, but it is apparently on the up and up. A Horace & Dickie's is opening in Miami and they hope to have four more of them up and running in the Miami-Dade area within the next year. More from the
Miami Herald.

why don't they spruce up the DC location first?
maybe they'll use the extra revenue to pick up their trash more regularly.
sheesh.
It's a Miami Lawyer who was visiting DC, tried the food, and decided he wanted to open a franchise down there. It seems doubtful we'll notice any changes here.
As popular as Horace and Dickies is, I wonder why they don't open a larger restaurant with sitting on H Street. People love them. I'm sure it would be successful. Maybe something like Ben's Chili Bowl.
It's true that the food is good, but let's be honest - it's best if you don't look around much. Sortof kills your appetite.
Maybe H&D can't expand because they can't afford a five-fold increase in their taxes. Y'know, the one that almost killed Ben's Chili Bowl?
If this is true, I wish them MUCH success in FL - so much that they decide to close up shop around the corner from me. They are not good neighbors. You can ask most anyone around them and they are non-responsive to neighborhood complaints of parking problems, traffic problems, and trash problems. It would not bother me if they left.
I can say with much certanity that from your comment, anonymous 9:54, H & D was here long before you and your recently flipped, gentrified house. H & D is a staple to this community, and people come from all over the Washington, DC region (and further, apparently) just to purchase their famous fish sandwiches. If their trash concerns you, please report the problem to sanitation. Or, there might be another renovated house for you to buy not next to a historic landmark.
I can say for certain Anon. 9:54 that you haven't been to my local ANC Meeting with Raphael Marshal lately. If you had, you would be surrounded by 5 or 6 neighbors of H & D who would just assume see the place shut down. Oh, and all of them are older African Americans who live around this establishment and have to put up with their unneighborly crap. I can also say for certain that you don't live around it. You should be careful before you jump to gentrification conclusions sir/madam. Being a good neighbor has nothing to do with gentrifcation.
