Vacants Remain in 400 Block of H

P1010099
This morning I noticed a guy working on some buildings on the lower end of the south side of the 400 block of H Street. I asked him if the owners were finally going fix the places up. He indicated that he didn't know what the plans were, but understood the current work to be in response to demands from an inspector. So, don't get your hopes up yet if you see people out there poaking around.

Speaking of work on buildings, I saw a chain link fence around the school in Trinidad this morning.
Meanwhile, the prefab condos are up and Tyveked and now they're having brick put up on the exterior walls. Big change from the hole in the ground.
Oh, this weekend I heard a power saw going in Pap & Peeties or however you spell it. Looking fwd to that and SOVA opening up.

re Pap and Petey's

I ran into the owner of the building a couple weeks back peeking in the windows. He said the tenant was weathering some financial setbacks and was trying to secure additional loans to complete the renovations. He was just as curious as me to know what the inside was looking like, but seemed upbeat about the tenant's chances of getting it all done.

Let's hope!

Also, note this post on dcist about Whole Foods in Gallery Place. Oh, how I hate and envy thee, Gallery Place.

A Whole Foods in Gallery Place? Boy, that would really be the icing on the cake for that neighborhood. A grocery store is really all that area needs to offer the complete urban living experience - everything within walking distance, plus excellent public transit options.

Interesting that the owner of the building P&P's is going into doesn't know what it will look like.
