Transformation @414 H

No current photos, but a guy was working on 414 H Street yesterday. That building has been boarded up forever, so I immediately noticed when the board on the front window was down and there was a ladder out front. One source indicated that the plans call for a dance studio to occupy the space.

i'm betting that the 400-500-600 blocks are going to see a lot more action in the near future.

especially when senate square goes live. which, although a lot of people think the rent is ridiculous, is still good value on the dollar for dc.

no where but UP, babeeeeeee.....!

We could see into Pap & Peeties this weekend. Still work going on, but definitely progress.
At the other end of the street, it's a shame SOVA hasn't opened up...is it still an issue with the certificate of occupancy? If it is, that reallly sucks.

What *is* the rent at Senate Square, out of curiosity? I haven't seen anything on the website and I haven't bothered calling.

rumors are that rents start at $3k.

give 'em a call. the information that you get from the phone dorks is pretty amazing....

Rob,

Not sure, but I too have been wondering what has delayed the opening of SOVA. Anyone know for sure?

I'm not sure when SOVA will open, hopefully soon.
I've seen rents quoted below $3k, but you should call for rates on Senate Square.

inked, did you receive the flier from anc6a alcohol committee about considering a possible moratorium on opening more bars on H St? The meeting is supposed to be Nov. 20.

Considering there's still more vacant buildings than thriving ones, isn't jumping the gun a bit? H St is no Adams Morgan.

Lou, I don't live in 6A, so I didn't get a paper copy of the flyer. But, someone was nice enough to email me a copy. I just hadn't posted anything about it yet.

Lou,
this looks to me like a issue on which people will be likely be pretty divided. I know that lots of people would support such a cap (though where to set the max would be another issue). I think we'll be in a better position to evaluate these questions after we get some restaurants open and our nighttime options aren't largely confined to carryouts, bars, or theaters.

I talked with the people at Senate Square and they told me that one bedrooms start at $2000.
