SOVA currently features Intelligentsia Coffee, based out of Chicago, which works with coffee bean farmers throughout the process.

Wow, that's crazy. I used to live right around the corner from Intelligentsia on N. Broadway. The memory of that cafe w/ the big roaster is one of the reasons I make the trek to Sidamo--it's such a pleasant surprise when I happen to catch Kenfe roasting up his green beans. Mmmm.

Guess I'll have to start spreading the love around now...

I know its difficult to make the cost-benefit work, but I would truly love if Sidamo or SOVA were open later into the evening in the neighborhood. As it stands, I could only go during the weekends.

On a side note, are there any 24 hour coffee shops in DC other than Tryst?

kingston,

i know sidamo closes pretty early, but isn't sova open until 9 pm during the week? that's not bad in my opinion.

Yes, Kenfe's roaster has made my daily bike ride home more enjoyable-- it gives me something to look forward to coming over the Hopscotch bridge. Still have to contend with the noxious fryer smells from Popeye's and H&D though...

My understanding is that SOVA will be open later once it gets its liquor license. Then it really will be like Tryst. As a wine lover, I'm really looking forward to it.

Anyone who uses Facebook I just noticed there's a new SOVA group on Facebook.
They've got great desserts there, I think from Patisserie Poupon.
And speaking of dessert & coffee, we went to Napa 1015 the other night and tried the lighter fare menu. Pretty tasty stuff, and we topped it off with mousse cake and coffee. They're thinking of having wine tastings there. With the Argo, SOVA and Napa there will be no shortage of wine at the east end of H.
