Combat and Redemption @the Atlas

The Post features a great review of three short operatic works being presented a single piece at the Atlas Performing Arts Center. The three short pieces are Monteverdi's Combattimento, Mozart's The Impresario, and Holst's Savitri. Together they make up Combat and Redemption, which you can catch again on the 26th and 27th. The Atlas is located at 1333 H Street. Purchase tickets here, or call the box office at 202-399-7993.

In Series is also presenting GI Jive this weekend Friday and Saturday at 8pm. Doug Bowles and the SingCo Rhythm Orchestra perform a tribute to the soldiers of WW II in song and stories

They are offering 20% off ticket prices for neighborhood residents for both events! Just call the box office, 202.399.7993.

Also they are doing a little birthday celebration for Mozart’s 252nd bday on Sunday the 27th. After the opera there will be cake and refreshments. Free for all! Can’t beat free cake…And there’s no football to interfere.

I saw this show last Sunday. It was my first opera. This is a really fine production. There is something fantastic about live music, the lighting and the costumes. The Atlas shows are a great opportunity to expand your cultural boundaries at a very nice venue and great price.

I also saw the show last weekend. Three distinct short pieces from three different time periods: Early music, classical and 20th century. Well staged and well sung and the Moart piece is really fun.
