A wonderful piece! I am glad to know the background of how Kenfe and Mimi came to open this shop... They are already important people in the lives of many of us in the neighborhood.

How terrible that they aren't yet turning a profit? Here's hoping the new residents of Senate Square make the two-block walk down H (so long as they don't hog the tables).

I think people have no idea how long it takes the average business to turn a profit. They put tens of thousands of dollars into getting the business up and going. Not mention the fact the daily operating cost of such a business. It actually shouldn't be a surprise at all.

Having said that, I too hope more and more people support Kenfe, Mimi, and all the small business owners on H St. They all have a story.

I live on 3rd Street and work at SEC and love Sidamo Coffee. Every day 2 co-workers and I start our day off with a trip to their shop. Hey Mimi, I'll be there in about 20 minutes for my usual...
