Dr. Granville's on the Food Network

IMG_4761
Some very exciting news comes to us from Dr. Granville's. Apparently H Street's little Belgian Gastropub is going to be featured on an episode of a new Food Network show called America Eats. Chef Teddy Folkman says that on March 17th the television crew will be filming the dinner service and interviewing guests. Dr. Granville's will be running a $10 moules special and knocking $1 off all drafts for the evening. Dr. Granville's is located at 1238 H Street. Check out the audition video [keep in mind they are trying to sell themselves to the show].

The $10 Moules and $1 off all Drafts starts this Monday and goes on every Monday thereafter. We will have a new happy hour and specials menu out shortly. Cheers.

Teddy - Is the restaurant going to be open for regular business on the 17th, or will you be requiring reservations (or invitation-only) for that night's dinner?

I'm a huge fan of Doc Moore's and I'd be happy to offer a testimonial to the good folks at the Food Network if I can get in the door that night.

Mike-
Granville's will be operating like a Friday or Saturday dinner with service starting at 5:30pm and ending at 11-11:30pm. We will have the same seating policy with our hostess in place keeping a list. I know you all aren't the biggest fans of this policy, but it has been working well so far. On another note, thank you all. Without the support of our community, we might have never been discovered and given this opportunity. Cheers.

Here's a vote for using pagers to keep track of those on the waiting list, at least when the wait goes upwards of 20 mins. It's practical. There's no room to stand while waiting for a table and it's not exactly a short wait. I'd sure like the opportunity to grab a beer at the Pug while I wait. But right now, the cramped quarters keep me away.

Anon 705, do you have a cell phone? I've heard that the staff will call you when your table is ready. So you could pretty easily sneak over to the Pug for a beer.

I have had wonderful experience at GMs however, a couple of times the food was very much sub standard. I am guessing it's the day Teddy is on leave and they have a substitute chef!

My wife, 8 month old son and father-in-law went to dinner at Dr. Granville's yesterday evening at 5:30 PM. My father-in-law was visiting from out of town and we wanted to take him to our favorite neighborhood restaurant. We have been going to Dr. Granville's since it opened last summer -- in fact we go for dinner about once a week as we love it, we also take many of friends there and it's less than a block from our house. We were delighted that all the tables by the front door had families with little children arriving early for dinner. We went to the back round table on the first floor, there were three adults and one child -- at 5:30 PM, we figured that we could get away with fewer people than the table could hold -- nope. An automaton came and told us we would have to go upstairs, so we hoisted our stroller and family upstairs. The experience went downhill from there. The appetizer that we requested before our food arrived at the same time as our entrees. At the end of the meal, we were told by our waiter -- who was new and we were very accommodating -- informed us at 6:20 PM that the restaurant was out of dessert.....huh? We are tossing this highly unpleasant experience up to new faces at the restaurant (didn't recognize any of them) and their inexperience. After dinner and in leaving the restaurant, the round table on the first floor looked as if it hadn’t been used -- good job at making the experience that much more unpleasant. As fans of both the Food Network and Dr. Granville's, we hope that they work out the new "kinks" in the next couple of days. As for our family, we are going to give them a few weeks and try them again. Please get better than last night, or go back to the way it was a week ago......

Seriously? Thanks Inked! That's very helpful (and the very reason I read Frozen Tropics).

The food looked great but the service was awful. I came in last week and was yelled at for asking to sit at a table, in her words "FINE, GO AHEAD. YOU GUYS ONLY ASKED NINE TIMES!" Customer service should always come first. Granville Moore's....I think it's time for a staff meeting!
