The long awaited Pap and Petey's [link plays music] opened its doors (for a soft opening) last night. I was unable to attend, but perhaps a few of you made it and might like to share. Pap and Petey's is located at 421 H Street. They will be open daily from 5pm.

Great news about the opening! We are happy the doors are finally open and can't wait to enter. The development continues.

Any word on the restaurant building on the SW corner of 6th and H?

I happened to walk past P n P last night and saw people were in there. I spoke to Amanda behind the bar and she said they are not officially open, but will be open 7 days a week at 5pm.
I didn't stay because I was in route going somewhere. She also said that after a while they will start to have live music.

I didn't know there was a restaurant going to be there. That explains why someone has been working in there from time to time.

My apologies Derek, let me clarify so I do not mislead anyone. I have no idea what is going on with that particular property. I just described the outside appearance as a "restaurant building" to narrow down the location I had questioned.

I'm just glad that we're seeing a little more development on the "West End." Sidamo was looking kind of lonely.

m&g,

I have seen that corner property become a few things over the past several years. Does anyone know who owns it?
Lately, the Jamaican take-out across the street has added tables and more signage.

Went tonight. It was great.

They plan to bring on the menu in about two weeks and the live music in three.

This will be a very welcome addition to the neighborhood.

I went last night, and also had a great time. Because it was a soft opening w/ no advertising, etc. (and it being a Sunday), it was a small crowd. The owner (Duke, a great guy) was walking around welcoming everyone and if they wanted, chatting for a bit. It was a real mellow, neighborhood hangout feel. Very bright and clean, and the staff is great.

I'm going to send Inked some pictures I took with my cellphone (didn't think to bring the real camera). So happy to have a gathering spot on this end of H Street, and especially one done so well.

On the food, they hope to have something available soon--Duke was really jazzed up (pardon the pun) about my suggestion that he talk to the folks at A. Litteri about getting sandwiches to have available, which would be awesome. He said he would go talk to them today, so they may even have a Litteri's fix for us tonight...

They have a real good selection of beer--Chimay, Guiness, Sam & Sam Winter Ale, several other specialty beers--very cool.

Cheers,

Speaking of Taste of Jamaica, what are their hours? They usually seem closed when I drive by on the weekends.
