You may have noticed something going on at the former dollar store. I'm not sure what, if any, the specific plans are, but they do appear to be renovating. Anyone have a line on this one? Just to be clear, I'm talking about the nice gray building next to Alex Seafood Carryout.

Not quite sure. That's across the street from the Fashion One and a few doors down from Grace Deli. I've seen guys working in there on and off..more steadily in recent weeks. No idea what is planned either...very curious. I need to catch the crew while they are in there and find out. Let you know if I learn anything new.
Please let it be a wig shop!
I also noticed recently that three buildings on the north side of the 1000 Block (across from WillPower gym)are being painted and spruced up. This is where the record store is and both buildings on each side. Anyone know what's going on here?
Those three places all have the same owner. I believe they have been on the market for a while with a very high price tag. He may just be sprucing them up.
I learned earlier tonight that it is going to be some type of clothing store...but this is as of yet unconfirmed. I'll let you know when I get more solid info.
nice, thanks.
no worries...and let me just say kudos to you for all of the hard work you do on this blog..your energy level is commendable
I concur with the last comments of 7th & H. I would go so far as to say you and your blog has an insurmountable influence on our community. Why else would ANC Representitives and numerous business owners bother posting - because dozens of residents, constituents, and business patrons participate on it. I think you provide a valuable community service. Keep up the good work!
I check this blog every day. I remember when I first moved to the neighborhood 6 years aho, I would google search for news about the hood. Then FT came around and I started hanging on every word like those crazy rumors about some guy named Joe who might (gasp) open a few bars on H. Now we use the blog to slam those bars (kidding, mostly). Inked, are you able to tell how many visitors and/or daily hits you have on the blog? I'd love to know more about how it has grown. Also, thanks
I'm a Frozen Tropics addict. Somebody post behind me, I need a fix.....
It is going to be a Zendik Store. This is all that we need more hippies and tweens.
say what you want about poo poo, 1:29, but at least he/she ensures there's plenty of "supply"
If the Zendick people moved in perhaps they could hang out by the preachers on H. But seriously, no one knows anything?
I hope it's something "family friendly."
These are the numbers Stat Tracker provides. I suspect it may be giving users more than one hit, so take the numbers with a grain of salt. When it says new visitors that would include everyone whose browser clears when it closes. If the non-tracking cookie disappears so does the memory of the user.

I don't beleive those numbers include RSS feeds or other aggregator stuff, but I could be wrong. So the numbers may actually be higher if you count subscribers.
Inked,
I talked to Jamil (owner of Fashion One) earlier today. He owns 707 H. The bottom level is going to be a clothing store. Second floor is going to be office space for a maid/cleaning service. Third floor- nothing solid as of yet. I have done my duty as promised.
btw..the stats on your site are quite impressive
Sorry Inked, I'm computer illiterate. Can you explain to me the #s? March 6, 2008 (I understand), I don't understand the following #s:
2,443 1,078 533 545
3,422 1,518 876 642 ... etc.
Anon 916,
respectively, total page loads [basically ignore this number], unique users [probably the only number you care about], unique users, returning users. Does that help?
Yeah, it does - sort of. Mainly it tells me that there's a lot of people looking at FT on any given day and only a few people posting, which is probably good. Interesting. Thanks!
Do you know what kind of clothing store?
did you mention to him that maybe he should upgrade the signage for fashion one?
the owner of 707 H put up his sign yesterday (Sunday). The store is called "Unik Style". To quote him.."it's a hip-hop clothing store (jeans, t-shirts, etc.)." Plans to open this week.
that last post should've said the owner of the ground floor clothing store at 707 H St. put up his sign. He is not the owner of 707 H.
soul:
the owner of fashion one has applied for streetscape funds for said purpose
Who administers the funds for the streetscape project? The city or H Street Main Street?
That would be the city.
