how sad that this is buried in "other news about recent murders."

What a relief. I’ve noticed that there has been a spike in crime in alleys around the area. Perhaps it has something to do with the warm weather, but just this past weekend alone, I’ve seen more activity in my alley than I have in all the years I lived here.

If your time permits, try to observe whatever is going on in your alley. You might be able to cut down on some of the unscrupulous activity that some* people try to hide back there.

* note I said some, not all. There are legitimate reasons for some folks to be in alleyways, some people use them for shortcuts, etc. But excessive loitering in alleyway, in itself, is a bit suspicious to me, especially if someone isn't wearing some sort of uniform (utility workers, etc)

Thanks for the advice. I think I observed a little too much this weekend. I have a dead end alley behind my house, so when a car pulled into it with no lights on at 5 am, sat for 10 minutes with the outline of 2 people “moving strangely” in the car, I concluded something sour was afoot. I called the police but they missed them by 2 or 3 minutes. I was hoping the people in the car weren’t the only ones to get a little action. I really wanted them to get busted.
