Do I take it from the meeting location that the boundary committee is considering Trinidad for inclusion in the prospective association?
Just curious if Trinidad folks should come to the meeting...

Ugg. Not another neighborhood association!?! There are several already in "capitol hill north." I wish them well, but these different groups all complete for the same funding and duplicate work efforts. I think it would great if there were a Trinidad neighborhood association, (If there isn't one already) but calling it "Capitol Hill North," reeks of being created by realtor types, not the people in the community. Maybe I'm wrong, and it's truly a group for the northern part of cap hill- from Constitution to H streets or so, but I doubt it.

I agree, there seem to be many duplicative efforts. Don't know if this is the same group or not, but I met a group of people who invited me to join their neighborhood association and when I said I lived at 9th and K, they said, "Oh, we stop at 7th Street". hahaha It just made me laugh.

BTW, I don't think this is the same group I just referred to.

Well, K, everyone knows that 7th street and 9 streets are in totally different neighborhoods! :-)

Yep, Tom, I guess I'm in east-Near-Northeast, not the cooler west-Near-Northeast! :) hahaha

Where exactly is the meeting? The campus is pretty big.

Thanks

Tom-I'm wondering if they're thinking of including Trinidad in their boundaries for this CHNNA.
If not, maybe there is room for one for Trinidad.
Right now there's a Trinidad Concerned citizens for Reform (1510 Montello Avenue-Wilhelmina Lawson's group) and a Ivy-City Trinidad Citizens Association (http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/ivy1911ctr/myhomepage/). I don't know if either of those two groups are active.
There's also a group of Trinidad residents actively having strategy meetings and doing things--their minutes are in past postings of the Trinidad-dc Yahoo group.

Just wanted to answer a few of the questions that were posted.

Although we are holding the meeting at Gallaudet, we are not considering Trinidad for inclusion -- our boundaries will almost certainly be as follows -- G Street NE to the South, the train tracks to the West, Florida Avenue to the North and 8th Street NE to the East.

Mr. Aloisi's comments that it "reeks of being created by realtor types" couldn't be further from the truth -- we researched a name that encompassed our area yet avoided potential confusion with other existing neighborhood groups led us to the best name we could find (we apologize if people don't think it fits, but we're doing the best we can ... besides, what's in a name? a rose by any other name...).

And finally, the meeting will be held in the Foster Auditorium at Gallaudet. We hope to start distributing flyers this weekend with further details.
