Here's their announcement-
This Saturday is the 4 annual Framing the Future Art Auction and Gala for Two Rivers Public Charter school. Our fourth annual art gala, Framing the Future: an evening of art and music in support of the Two Rivers community, will take place on Saturday, 12 April 2008 at the oh-so-stylish, hip, and very artsy Two Rivers building · 1227 4th Street NE, Washington DC. The evening will include a silent art auction and live music. Guests will also enjoy marvelous cuisine, cocktails, and desserts. The event is “black tie for the brave” and will offer valet parking. Gala proceeds will help Two Rivers fund specialized arts programming, purchase arts supplies, support artists in residence, and provide continuing education for teachers. Some of the art available for the auction has been on display at Sova (thank you Frank) Those who would like to bid on a piece but can’t make the event Saturday are welcome to fill out a bid sheet at Sova. A list of participating artists is available here. More information on Two Rivers can be found on the school’s website

Any idea on what "black tie for the brave" means?
Thanks.
Has anyone attended this in the past? I'd love to hear more about it from one of you all.
i've been every year. my kids go to the school. it's a nice event, good food, and music, no speeches or anything.and there is some really good art. the kids also create pieces for the auction and some of those are really cool. there is one hanging at sova by the third grade that i love.
black tie for the brave i think is saying black tie would be nice but in reality few guys wear tuxes, the rest wear suits.
I've also been (though not when it was held at the school) and it's a nice event and, I think, a worthwhile cause - arts (art, music, drama) education.
Thanks for sharing I enjoy reading this please keep updated.
