The best part of all this is the comments section. My god, if you ever want a reason to thank God above that you live in this neighborhood instead of out in the hinterlands where "real Americans" live, this is it...

Yes folks, the bar ring for the entire event was $675 whole dollars (plus a room fee paid by Baby Loves Disco). That means $2.20 per person spent on alcohol/beverages. Wow, imagine how crazy the scene was with that kind of consumption. I would also add that more than 50% of that total was probably soft drinks!
I wasn't able to comment on the Post Article at Washington Post.com. Can someone add this to the comments?

wow.

it's hard to imagine that we have so many rednecks close to the nation's capitol.

i mean, i see them driving like crap through our streets, but i had no idea they actually espoused the whole 'hick' lifestyle.

for some reason i thought they'd be a bit more ... "open".

speaking of which... i saw two license plates this weekend. both were from VA. one said LUVDC, and the other said, DCisBEST - or some such.

my question is, how many DC license plates do you see that say, VA-ROCKS, or LUVMD?

never.

THAT, speaks volumes.

i'll never take my kid to the redneck burbs for some BBQ, miller lite, and rodeo dancing to the oak ridge boys.

ick.

It doesn't look like they have any dates set up right now. The Baby Loves Disco site indicates that they maybe seeking a larger site for the summer because all the events have sold out so quickly.

They should check out XII down the block. It's plenty big enough. But the Post readers might be concerned about the potential for "those people" to be there, of course.

God, that Post comment thread is depressing. I need a freaking drink. If only we could harness the energy of all those clenching sphincters, we could finally be free of foreign oil.

Tom, I think the Rock and Roll Hotel is actually bigger that XII. I'm sorry to see it may be moving. I'm hoping they will choose to either just hold more frequent event, to hold them at two locations. This has been a very welcome addition to the neighborhood, and there is obviously a great demand, both in the neighborhood, and beyond. Perhaps is could spur more family centered events on H. I know that family night at the Argonaut has been wildly successful. While I do not have children, it is clear to me that there is massive demand for events catering to families.
