ANM Market Deli

IMG_5242
I've previously mentioned this business, which is located at 1363 H Street, because they have great sandwiches, and also offer salads [which I haven't tried yet]. Some people were a bit put off before because the business had grates on the window. The grates were there before the business opened. The grates are now gone. Please do take the time to stop in at breakfast time, lunch time [they have excellent lunch specials], dinner time, or for a late night snack. The owners are very nice, and they will make you a fresh sandwich on the spot. The prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the food. I think it is also important to support businesses that take the extra step of removing bars, or grates. If that is something you value, you should stop in for a purchase and mention that fact. Please also be aware that the owners have mused with the idea of opening up an Ethiopian restaurant on the second floor. It can't hurt to mention it if you think that would be a business that you would visit. Again, these guys are not your average corner store. They really stand out in their offerings, and I think they are a real asset to H Street, and the neighbors. I'm very impressed with them.

Thanks for the information regarding ANM Market Deli. I do appreciate the fact that they took down their bars and will make a point to patronize their store again v. soon. On a different subject, I just passed by Studio 400 "Live Music Hall" on the corner of 4th and H, northside. Why did I think that this location was going to be a health food business? This is the one-story building at the end of the row that used to be painted grey. Does anyone have any information? Although I love live music venues, I was hoping for some food and not necessarily another bar-only/entertainment type establishment.

I thought the same thing about 4th and H. However, I think health business is actually Platinum Catering, 650 H St NE. During the day, they serve a boxed lunch for $5 including drink. I tried crab cake with cabbage and sweet potatoes. The crab cake, of course, was not lump, but it was pretty tasty. The cabbage and sweet potatoes were also good without all that sugar, grease, and salt. I cannot speak to hours as I just happened to be in neighborhood during one day.

I think studio 400 is a recording studio, not a bar or live music venue

The sign out front says "Studio 400 Live Music Hall." Does anyone know if they serve alcohol?

what are the hours for ANM?

Someone recently said that the hours were-

hours are
M-Th: 630am-1000pm
F: 630am-3am
Sat: 800am-3am
Sun: 1000am-900pm

But I don't know for sure that those are current.

All I know about Studio 400 is that lots on people hang in and around there on Friday and Saturday night. And they are parking on the sidewalk.

This seems like a missed opportunity for our community. The owner Darryl Pounds could have done a lot better for us.

Where is the ANC?

What is wrong with these places that they can't get proper signage? This place and Napa need to go into together and get signs (not balloons).

I like balloons... They make me happy

Yep check out the cool Italian Mexican place.....to find it look for balloons.

I just tried NAPA's brunch for the first time on Sunday. Truly the best french toast I've had in the city. I'll be back for brunch for sure!

Those hours look right to me. This place is really great - the owner is so friendly, the food is good, drink and chip selection very wide, and the prices are good. Amazing for a late night sandwich!

ANM also recently added a to-go menu of Ethiopian dishes, which seem to be pretty good quality for the price.
