Examiner: MPD Ends Checkpoint

The police have ended the checkpoint operating in the 1400 block of Montello. Earlier tonight, around 8pm, police had set up a public safety check at the intersection of Montello and Morse. Offiers check licenses, and seatbelts, and looked for open containers, but did not inquire into drivers' business in the neighborhood. Roughly 20-25 officers were stationed at the safety check.

There's a checkpoint now on Trinidad and Neal. Probably about half-dozen or so cops.

Just in time for the weekend...guess it will be business as usual in the hood this weekend.

Speaking of police activity, does anyone have any idea what was going on this morning (Friday) around 4 am roughly between 7th and 9th/H and K? There was a chopper circling for about a half hour searching and there were about 5 cruisers combing the area over and over. The chopper was so low and banking repeatedly it sounded like it was going to crash. First guess is it was a search for an alleged evil-doer. Any info?

I was awoken by the same chopper. Its spotlight actually shone through my bathroom skylight a couple of times. I wonder if they saw me peeing...
