P1010106
Smith Family Farms and NonBon Bakery will join the current vendors at the market. Smith Family Farms sells Grass-Fed Angus Beef, Pastured Poultry, Pastured Turkey and Free-Range eggs. NonBon Bakery offers a delicious array of goods made using fresh produce from local farmers including strawberry bread, bread pudding, sweet potato pies and cobblers.

The market is every Saturday from 9am-12pm. It is located on the south side of the 600 block of H Street [across from the self-storage].

Smith Farms was at the market last Saturday - I picked up some beef short ribs that I haven't had a chance to cook up yet as well as some teriyaki beef jerky that was gone within the day.

I'm glad to see we're bringing in new vendors, but I hope more effort will be made to find vendors who are less direct competition to the vendors that are already there. We already had a bakery represented, and Smith Farms' pork will compete directly with Cedarbrook Farms.

Nothing wrong with competition, of course, just don't want to see everyone suffer to the point that participation is no longer viable due to a dilution of the available support.

Hmm, I didn't get the notice until this week, and I missed the market last Saturday. Competition can be problem, but hopefully an expanded market will bring in larger crowds.

I don't think that Smith Farms will be selling pork at the market. I don't think that the bakery products are the same. I suspect that both places will do well. I am glad to finally get chicken and turkey at the market.ctriwnrc

They had free-range pork with them last Saturday - not sure if that was just a one-time thing or if they're planning to do it regularly.

Either way, I can tell you from first-hand observation that they WERE selling pork last week.

Here's hoping a rising tide lifts all boats and that the addition of new vendors benefits old and new alike.

I was at the market yesterday, and picked up a delicious bread pudding from Nonbon bakery, as well as my usual bread supply from Dan, the existing baker. There isn't too much direct competition, since Nonbon focuses on sweet, rich products, that are different from anything else there. I think it'll be a temptation to get both whenever I'm there. . .

The strawberry bread from Nonbon Bakery is awesome! Very moist and tasty.

I agree with Sarah, the products are very different. There is plenty of room for both.

We had the beef steak from Smith farm was tender, and had tons of flavor.
