No! I love Napa! Jorge, let us know if we can do anything and when you will be back!

There all kinds of things that make the restaurant business a difficult one, but who knew that automotive mayhem was one of them. Didn't a car drive into the lobby of the Checkers on Maryland Ave. within the past couple of months?

Only in the Wild Wild Wild West aka NE do drivers direct their cars into businesses

A car also drove into a house on Florida Ave NE about a month go across from Trinidad area.

That s-u-c-k-s sucks. I hope the damage is confined to the cosmetic rather than the structural, and those guys can get things rolling again soon.

A car making a U turn was hit by a speeding car heading east. There were several people hurt. Two pedestrians were drug several feet on the sidewalk. There were a

The damage to Napa may be structural. There's bricks laying about, and their fire sprinkler water intake pipe is hanging out on to the sidewalk. I can't believe that the the plate glass windows on each side of Napa escaped damage.

Of all the places they could've hit, why Napa?! If only it had been one of the check cashing establishments instead.

So sorry to hear Jorge. Hang in there and we hope you open again soon!

OMG...I haven't been to work for a week, because I was sick. I planned on coming back Monday and I see this.

Wow this completly sucks. I hope all the people who got hurt are going to be ok.

I wish MPD would institute a "zero-tolerance" policy towards speeders in automobiles. I don't mean folks going 15-20 mph over the speed limit, or more traffic cameras either. I mean randomly stopping *any* auto traveling *any* speed over the posted limit and writing them a ticket.

This would send a message, and make the streets more usable for pedestrians, cyclists, and everyone else.

Oh, and local restaurants, as well, apparently.

I saw the damage to the restaurant but I am more worried about the well-being of anyone who may have been injured. I walk the street pretty frequently and it's scary to think a car could fly out of nowhere and hit people on the sidewalk. I think we definitely should consider more traffic enforcement on H. There are a lot of people doing U-turns and a lot of people treating the street like a de facto freeway

My earlier comment was made before it was revealed that anyone was hurt in the incident. My sympathies go out to those who were injured.

Soul Sercher...which question?

From reading your posts you want "traffic enforcement" but you do not want to crack down and enforse businesses that are running ilegal opperations on H Street per DCRA?

Soul Searcher, I agree 100% with jftb. And thanks jftb for bringing up that point. Soul Searcher seems more concerned about the dangerous traffic on H then he is the negative influence that Studio 400 brings to the community, not to mention the young children that patronize that place for "mentoring" purposes. Give me a break. This place has the potential of harming WAY more people than those injured in car related accidents along H St.

Honestly, does Studio 400 have to come up in every post? Give it a break. You won. It's over.

FWIW, it was a freak accident. Really guys, accidents happen. Hopefully, everyone, from the people injured to everyone's favorite restaurant will recover.

I think my position on Studio 400 is being misquoted. I know one of the partners who own Studio 400. I know that one person to be a good person, from our general interaction. I would like to see the business continue. I have heard nothing that links Studio 400 to the injury of persons on the level of this particular tragedy in front of NAPA. In that regard, the two respondents above me are mixing apples and oranges.

ps: I meant to say "I would like to see the business continue if it can be approved to address all reasonable community concerns (obviously some people will be concerned just from it being a live urban music venue, but I mean any reasonable concerns people might have above and beyond the urban music component which some people would rather not see, period, seemingly).

it wasn't very long ago when me and my friends standing on a corner would be the 'thugs' about whom folks on here would complain, even if we weren't doing anything other than hanging out, which makes me particularly sensitive to allegations of 'thuggery' absent more specific accusations of wrongdoing that are actually tied to the venue or its patrons (as a former promoter, i am a bit wary of attributing to a venue incidents that happen away from the premises, but that's another post)...i have heard some stories, but i'd like to see some substantiation of the allegations made...or at least hear FIRST HAND from folks who witnessed wrongdoing rather than 'thru the grapevine'
