Dr. Granville Moore’s will feature selections of the best Oktoberfest beers from around the world. The kitchen plans on offering some tasty German specials. Sticky Rice will have Pumpkin Ale for $3
The Argonaut Tavern will feature Oktoberfest beers and the kitchen will offer a brat and beer special.
The Red and the Black will offer $3 Harpoon Oktoberfest all night long.
The Rock and Roll Hotel’s kitchen will have pierogies, chicken schnitzel and grilled bratwurst on a stick.
Sova Espresso and Wine will be hosting a beer and cheese tasting that evening from 7pm-9pm. $25 per person (rsvp to info@sovadc.com)
The Atlas Performing Arts Center will have several performances that evening; Catalyst Theater’s stellar production of 1984, a preview performance of Second Line by Seret Scott and the Thursday Laugh Box comedy performance with Andrea Fuller in the Indigo Room. Finally a beer special at Sticky Rice... wow..
I really like that "Atlas District" logo. Has that been adopted in some way? I think making that sign more ubiquitous would go a long way in the current "branding" effort that's going on here.
Isn't the beer and cheese tastings at SOVA kinda expensive? How much beer are we talking about here? 5 tastes? Does that equal 2 pints? or 1? and what are these cheeses? gold-flecked 10yearold gouda? I'm all for supporting local biz, but I'm not sure I'm getting some value there.

Stop being cheap. They're not serving Velvetta. In speaking with the owner, I understand 25 people or so have already RSVP'd and all the cheeses come from Cowgirl Creamery (not inexpensive at all). As far as the beer, I'm sure they'll pour at least a few ounces of each

I'm heading over to the Sova tasting tonight. Sounds like a good time to me...
$25 for a professionally-run beer and cheese tasting is not at all unusual. The tastings at Cheesetique and Cowgirl routinely cost $25-$40 per person for similar numbers of samples.
I'll be at the Sova tasting tonight (and I wrote about it over at DC Foodies to let others know about it, as well).
