I've tried a lot of the food on the menu, and it's all solid bar food and priced reasonably. If you haven't stopped by, I recommend it. There's a nice vibe--everyone is very friendly.

Yeah, exactly...before I even opened the comments I was going to say the exact same thing...friendly.

Even with the economy barely sidestepping disaster, let's keep coming out to our unique local places. These entrepreneurs have put it all on the line to create nice places to hang out and every year H St. gets better and better.

I thought it was a real shame that the West End of H Street had to be left out of the H Street Festival. I understand that it obviously cannot stretch out for 15 blocks, but I feel like Sidamo and Pap and Petey's get forgotten about...and they're both fantastic.

Sidamo did have a booth at the festival, so they were present in that way.

Will definitely stop by to try that hot new "imported" beer, Yuengling.

The beer pricing is a bit curious. Sam & Blue Moon, I would think, are on the same level, so not sure about the $.50 price diff. Same for the regular Sam vs. Seasonals (they are the same price in stores). Yuengling is about as domestic as you can get (America's oldest brewery). Oh well. I'd only be drinking the $2.00 shlitz red bull anyway, so maybe I'm not the target demo.

I do not think you can beat those prices.

By far this is my favorite H ST spot. It's neighborhood with style. The gimmicks will fade but I can see this place becoming an institution of the H ST revival.

I use to love this site but it seems that everyone only has negative things to say - complimenting one establishment by knocking down others.

Does anyone know if they get out-of-market football games on Sundays?

Had the chicken nachos and garden salad recently. Very tasty and nicely priced. Keep it up Duke!

I agree. How is Blue Moon considered domestic when Yeungling is not? It irks me when places consider America's oldest brew "imported."

Just a note about the Sunday football thing - When I was in they were only showing the local telecasts, they did not have pbr, and there was no chef/cook in the afternoon, so there was no food. I like the space, and enjoyed myself, but after reading this post, I was looking forward to a bite to eat.

Yeah, I talked to Duke about the food thing last Sunday - basically there was a staffing/kitchen issue that's been resolved - he was very apologetic and says tell everyone the kitchen's up & running w/even more additions/changes coming ... about the football? Yes, it'll be just the FOX/NBC/ESPN games ... but the cool atmosphere is still worth the trip!

Paps is a nice place. That said, I don't see how this place will stay in business. The last few times I went there was no cook and no food. The bartender who was there was clueless and spend most of her time playing with her phone rather than tending to customers. A friend told me that the great band that played on Wednesdays is no longer there because the owner wants amateurs who will play for free. Too bad -- this place could have been great with some effort. Sidamo is great, though -- best coffee in town.
