Police Bait Bike Thieves
NBC4 reports that police have been using bait bikes to catch thieves on H Street. Apparently 2 bikes were placed in the 600 block of H Street and they bikes were stolen five times in under an hour. So please lock up your bike.
I wonder how many times the bikes would be stolen if they were placed in Georgetown, Dupont Circle, Anacostia, etc. Would be nice to see if the results on H street are anamolous.
Over by Gallery Place there are a lot of bicycle thefts...mine got stolen out of a business my wife worked at there. Someone actually had the nerve to walk in and go into a back room and wheeled it out!
Get the correct type of lock and you'll be fine. The key is to always lock up your bike/scooter/motorcycle/trailer. That includes when it's in your backyard. Just be smart.

Anon-I used to live in Dupont and mine was stolen. Great neighborhood, great lock, that's just DC for you.
