Langston Bar and Grille, is truly a neighborhood gem. The people are friendly, the food is suprisingly good and Mojito Mondays take me back to Southbeach along with the loungey music they play. I can eat drink and play photo hunt, what more can a girl ask for?

What I've had of their food, I've liked a lot. I'm glad the place is around.

Funny how Anonymous said that the 'Mojito Mondays' take her back to South Beach when I have never even heard of 'Mojito Mondays' @ Langston until just Now... hmmmm, weird.
Anyhow, I live in the area & frequent this place A LOT; The bar is cool, I just wouldn't go there if I were a woman without a male escort.
The atmosphere is cool inside the bar as long as the outside undesirables, pandhandlers drug abusers or drunks don't linger in - that's when it's time to either pack your things up and request your bill or be extra cautious of your surroundings - which really isn't cool, considering I can go one block to drink at home free of these distressful circumstances.

I just returned to the country, but the last time I was in there with a buddy of mine, I didn't want to leave when one of the above mentioned lingered in because of the female bartenders working; I would have felt horrible if I left the two of them in there with the characters who had lingered in and something had happened.
I'm planning on going later on this week to get a deal on the fish! Since I haven't been in a while I am anxious to see the girls; the two ladies are very friendly and welcoming bartenders. I think they only work the weekends; be sure to check Langston out then. They're the sole reason I am a returning customer.

The Langston Bar and Grille is an intimate bar with filled with warm people, a chill atmosphere and very good food.

The drinks are great! My favorite nights are Tuesdays-so I will be there tonight for my Stoli-O and Seven. The bartenders aren't only friendly-they make GREAT drinks and make delicious recommendations when I don't want my norm.

Langston Bar & Grille is a must go-to in DC!

I wanted to address a few concerns posted on our Blog. We have been doing our current specials for about three weeks now. I have decide to do word of mouth (relationship) marketing to jump start most of our specials. Then, use more formal tools like web and print. This is my way of testing the waters.

The Rosedale/Carver/Langston community is very diverse. like most of DC we have a good mixture of incomes, education and social differences. The area does need a face lift but it reminds me of H street (Atlas) or Chinatown. As some may know the crime average is Chinatown is all most 4 times the national average http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/local-explorer/chinatown+crime

When traveling in any urban area we need to be aware and safe. To date our patrons have not had any problems. And we do have high tech resources for addressing safety. We always have two male staff (chef/bar back/bartender) on the property. Not necessarily behind the bar.

I do believe I have a great staff and we are making improvement every week. We look forward to serving you in the near future. Peace.

I went to Langston Bar and Grille a few Tuesdays ago and wasn't impressed. There is nothing about this place that would make me want to go back. The food was mediocre. I had the wings, and honestly I could've gotten fried chicken wings anywhere. The liquor selection wasn't up to speed with other bars in the area. I'll still be on the hunt for the best bar in NE because Langston Bar wasn't it, unless I went on the wrong night....

why is the owner on here rebutting everything?? Shouldn't Antonio be managing his Bar or something? But I agree with the guy above me - I've been numerous times (just to see if it would get better - but to no avail)... Food sucks, drinks are $$$ and weak, area is ghetto. I came, I tried, I was disappointed. On to other things... tally-ho!

3 friends and I went to Langston B & G last night and had reasonably high expectations based on highly favorable reviews on FT (the negative ones here notwithstanding), the Post and other blogs. It was by far the worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant.

Of the 4 of us, only one received the food he ordered. Guest 2 received her food about 20 minutes after the Guest 1 received his food and it was ice cold (a burger). About 20 minutes after that the staff informed Guest 3 that they were out of fried chicken. 20 minutes after that, he received two microscopic pieces of "roasted" chicken about the size of 2 wings. Guest 4 never received her food. She didn't find out it wasn't coming AT ALL until after the rest of us already had our food. Apparently they ran out of whatever she ordered (the special) and never bothered to tell her or ask if she wanted something else. The worst part is that when we were ordering, she actually ordered something else but the guy taking our order talked her out of it in favor of the special that they were apparently out of.

OK, it could have been an off-night. But it was SO off, that we will never give them another shot.

In their defense, the collard greens were good and so was Guest 1's pork ribs. But sadly, it wasn't enough to carry the event.

Going to be honest. With so much to do in DC, why would I bother to go to that hole in the wall? Yes you need an army of men if you are a woman to go there and be at peace. The outside is a dump. Inside, well like I said, a hole in the wall. The food is what it is, not good, not bad, just so. If I wanted food of that quality I would cook myself or order takeout. See when I want to go out, I go OUT so that little bar aint it. Trust me.
