Cause of Death

I came across this tool in a Slate article. Using the CDC's leading cause of death reports tool you can do break downs for DC by age, race, gender, and Hispanic / non-Hispanic origins. 2005 is the most recent year for which information is available. Play around with it a bit, it's pretty interesting.

24 homicides in 2005 for black males in the District of Columbia aged 1-18...it's certainly a big problem, but I always thought unintentional injury would still be the #1 cause...

Women of all races 25-44 biggest killer is HIV. But broken down by race it is mainly a killer of Black women.
