WP: More on Suspect in Recent Shooting
The Post reports that the suspect in Sunday's shooting is being held without bail. Dangelo Johnson, 18, is accused of shooting a 15 year old female, and shooting killing a 17 year old male. Both males were residents of Trinidad. Johnson lives in the 1200 block of Holbrook Terrace. Karon Shannon, the victim, lived in the 1300 block of Orren Street. According to the article, Johnson admitted that he shot at Shannon after the youth uttered an insult, directed at Johnson, under his breath. The 15 year old girl was shot once in the leg. Shannon was shot multiple times, including at least once in the back. Johnson had gone to Simms Place, the locus of the shooting, in order to purchase marijuana. Sounds like a delightful gentleman doesn't he?

Fantastic - we've got armed teenagers roaming the streets that will blow someone away for an under the breath insult. Quite an indictment of the culture that this kid was raised in...too bad whoever his guardian is can't be locked up as an accessory.
Off topic -- RE: Streetscpaping
Does anyone have any solid info on what the current status/near-term schedule of the streetscaping is? A few weeks back, it sounded as if the streetscaping was actually getting under way.
Is the current construction on H St actually the beginning of the process?
Are the plans still what they were when they held that open house at the H St. Playhouse, like 8 years ago?
Any definite word on whether they are putting down tracks for light rail?

Spend time over at Oak Hill aka Joke Hill and you will discover that most of these kids don't have legal guardians, let alone authority figures in their homes.
hey, if i ever heard of a case for the need of medical marijuana, here's one. i mean, clearly this guy needed to loosen up a little bit.
i kid, i kid.
well, at least we don't have a heroin problem in these parts...
