$2 is a great deal for Dale's Pale Ale! I'll be at the Pug on Tuesday.

Very good prices all around.

Any word on when the H Street COuntry Club is opening? He needs to open it before inauguration! Imagine the splash it would make then.

I was actually wondering about the H St. CC myself. I peaked in over the weekend and didn't see any activity. I don't see how they could open by Nov. (as tentatively projected) at this point. Jan. might be pushing it too from what I saw.

Anybody have any info on this?

What's the "PRUG?"

It's how the Pug comes out when you first roll out of bed and mention breakfast on a Sunday.

The delays in delivery of H Street Country Club are starting to be a bit concerning. Is it possible that Mr. Englert spread himself a bit too thin and, in this market, can't get construction loans to pay for the buildout? Not that he could have foreseen this, I'm just saying it seems possible that this could be delayed indefinitely...

Oh and so as to not hijack this thread completely, that hang over hash sounds like the most amazing food ever. And Dale's for $2? That's almost the same price as getting it at the store!

The Country Club is under construction, and they are working on it everyday. Trust me, I've seen the space and they are making progress. But that space is HUGE. It goes way back.

Prediction on being completed by inauguration?

Additional wild speculation about Joe Englert and his business enterprise:

I wonder if he was abducted by aliens, re-programmed and sent back to Earth to dominate the DC nightlife scene. That way he could open up more bars which would then be taken over by his new alien comrades.

Good grief, people. No, I wouldn't conclude Englert's having trouble with construction loans. It could just be that this is a massive project and it takes time to do something like this, especially in a city like DC with all its wacko regulation and business un-friendly practices. Just a thought....

Typically projects don't get started and then suddenly languish for a year unless somethign goes astray. Could be permits or city-related issues, but whatever it is, I have walked by that place numerous times since the actual work begun this past summer and there's not been a dramatic change. Why is it rude to speculate that he's had some issue? I'm not saying it's his fault, but this project has certainly been delayed way longer than expected.

Clearly, something has caused a delay in opening the country club. Wasn't it originally scheduled to open around a year ago? We all know that dealing with DC government is a pain in the ass, so it may just be a permit issue.

Anon 1:35, or should I say Clueless in DC

" The delays in delivery of H Street Country Club are starting to be a bit concerning. Is it possible that Mr. Englert spread himself a bit too thin and, in this market, can't get construction loans to pay for the buildout? "

That's almost laughable. "Concerning"... Are you serious. It's a huge project. I can guarantee it's not a money issue. The dude has been rolling out these places since you were in diapers.

It's clear some people haven't a clue about what it takes to even get this type of stuff underway, and the hoops you have to go through.

Anyway, chill out... it'll be here in a few months for certain.

"Are we there yet?" That's what I hear when I read commdents about the CC. Projects take time. Look how long it took for Sticky Rice to open. And that's a much smaller place.
