Pap & Petey’s
Redux
Pap & Petey’s is closing … but only for a little while.
Thanks for all of the support that Pap & Petey’s has received over the past nine months. The people in the neighborhoods that surround P&P have been nothing short of Fantastic in coming out and helping to put us on the map. And, in a show of appreciation for that support, P&P is upgrading!
We will be closed over the next few weeks for some exciting renovations that will make P&P an even more attractive destination point along the H Street Corridor. We apologize for not being open to ring in the New Year with all of you – But, we promise that in a few weeks, you’ll be very pleased to see what we’ve done for 2009.
New Look
New Menu
New Seating
New Staff
New Year!
We appreciate your patronage to-date … and your patience during this upgrade.
And, we very much look forward to seeing all of our old friends and new ones in the coming year … Until then …
Happy New Year Everyone!!!

I hope they're doing well! They deserve patronage. If you haven't get out there are support them when they re-open. If places like these close, it will be tough sledding to attract new businesses.
Anybody have the details of the renovation? This is great news.
Really hard font to read. Are there any details about this.
What's their deal with getting live acts? Without a Web site it was always difficult to know if anyone was playing. And apparently they don't want Zeebop playing anymore? Anyone know the story?
Glad to hear this -- I looked thru the windows recently and assumed they were shutting down.
An upgrade is very welcome. The service, prices and location could not be beat, but the bad lighting and slap-dash decor made the place seem less welcoming.
I just hope they can be open again by inauguration. I can't see why Duke (the owner) would want to miss out on all that potential business. I know I'd want to be there for pre/post inaugurations celebrations. It was the first place we thought to run right after they announced the winner on Election Day and the mood in that room was electric. Here's hoping they reopen by 1/20!
I want to like Pap & Petey's. Scratch that- I really want to like Pap & Petey's; it's the closest drinking establishment to my house, Duke's a nice guy, the live music is great, and it isn't like there's anything truly off-putting about the place (like $10 cover, pounding pounding techno music, lousy staff). But for lack of a better term it just isn't comfortable there. Here's hoping the upgrades fix that
Not to start start a comment war, but wasn't there talk of Liquid Lounge integrating into P & P's? I think the deal at 400 H fell through.
I've always liked the place, too, and didn't get there often enough.
This is just a guess, but I think some fresh investors have come in and the P&P Management will be this new group of people. They'll change the way it's run, and hopefully put up bigger screen TV's so that people can come and watch games there.
What's the deal with Liquid Lounge anyway. Are there still plans to open on H St?
Debbie
Hello folks, this is Shawn Lightfoot from Liquid Lounge. first let me clear the air, my partner(LaZerrick Howard) and I were trying to acquire the space at 400 H St for a bistro concept but could get not settle on some of the terms with the owner. We are actively finishing up the the remaining details for Liquid and will begin that project very soon. As business owners we are always looking for opportunities in the restaurant/hospitality field and spoke to Duke (current owner) at P and P's some time ago. We finally came to an agreement and are happy to say we will continue to bring class and respect to the dining scene on H St. This will also afford the neighborhood an opportunity to meet us and get to know the level of professionalism we will bring to the H St family.
400 H Street? Didn't Liquid Lounge receive approval to open an establishment at 914 H Street?
Liquid is 914 h street. The Chef was associated with the H Street Lounge [401 H Street]. Now the team from Liquid is teaming up with Pap and Petey's.
Hey Folks, there seems to be a mix up in info. First let me clear this up, I nor my partner LaZerrick Howard have ever been associated with Studio 400's former tenants or the H St lounge outfit. Addresses are confusing poeple. We were looking into a bistro concept but could not agree on terms with the buildings owner. This was after Studio 400 was evicted or shut down. Now comes along H St lounge at 401 H St and we are being associated with them. This is absolutely not true nor are we looking to do business with them now or in the future. We have partnered with Duke Cross because we all have the same vision for this neighborhood and it's eating and drinking establishments. We want to continue to bring classy-casual dining placeses to H St, and we want and need the support of everyone in order to make this and other ventures like these (Liquid and P and P's) successful destination spots. I can be reached directly at cheffoots@aol.com or I will be at P and P's daily during the renovations and hiring of new staff. Please feel free to come by and visit, Shawn
Shawn,
When will you reopen? I am excited to see the place.
We are pushing for Inauguration. But the window is small and the work is plenty. We will do the best we can to reopen ASAP.
Have you all taken a look in the window lately? The place is totally transformed. It looks really nice! I'm sad to see that it no longer seems to have a space for live music. That was one of my favorite parts of the old P & P, but as long as it remains a chill place for us folks who live nearby to grab a drink, then I guess I'm cool. I am thrilled to see that there will be beer on tap. That is an excellent addition. Here's hoping the atmosphere remains chill and that the whole place doesn't become too night-cluby. Congrats to Duke and the new team on the remodel.
