Work @Micky's

IMG_2808
The long boarded up Micky's building [yellow sign] has sold. I spotted a crew working on it yesterday just before 10am. They said the owner is renovating with the hopes of leasing it out. This building is located in the 1300 block of H, across from Sova.

Anyone know the purchase price? Just curious.

Always nice to hear about another building on H street getting fixed up.

Peeps are actively working on the old Hill's carpet place too. Any idea of what's going in there?

The carpet place is going to be a restaurant. The original location was the Majestic, but negotiations collapsed.

Are you talking about the carpet place next to the autozone parking lot on the south side of the 1200 block-- 2 places in from 13th?

That's the one.

details on the Hills carpet restaurant please.

I don't have anything definite. Last I heard [mid-December] the location had changed to Hills and the food type had changed. I did have a conversation last night with someone who asked me about the restaurant rumors he had been hearing. The word bistro came up. I don't have anything firm.

Re: Hills: They had a dump truck out front this morning and seemed to be cleaning out the building. It's a start...

I, for one, am glad that Hills went out of business. They left us and others I know high and dry when we contracted them for service. They took more that DC government lets business take as up front deposit.
They never showed up for weeks after they tore out floor and then we had to scramble to find someone to finish the work.
I just wish they had been upfront and stated that the job I wanted them to do was too big for them to handle.

I spoke with the owner of the carpet reno' he's working on the construction and the menu would come to him. It seems like it was heading in the american ave.

Not to be the grammar police, but could the last poster please clarify the information they received? What does "the menu will come to him" mean? Is it that he's just rehabing in the hopes that someone will lease the space as an american-style bistro? Seems like an odd plan, if that's the case...

To clarify:

"It would come to him...." as in like...."he will be inspired to write down what will be on the menu at some point in time...."

American Ave=In the American vain........got it?????
