I would but their hours are not customer friendly. I live right next to the store, but I can't get there by 5pm so I go to the florist on Cap Hill. And Cap Hill prices are better.
I've noticed that their flowers tend to last longer than ones that I've bought elsewhere. Their flower arrangement designs are beautiful, the prices seem reasonable, and the service is excellent.
Just a medium dog that does buy flowers in a soggy paper cone.
I have to agree with big dog on the price thing. I wanted to support the new business, so walked in there about a year ago, and said give me a "nice spring bouquet that costs 20 dollars." I got a rose, a tulip, and a fern leaf. I don't criticize her business plan, but I don't generally buy high end "boutique" flowers when there are a lot of flower bargains next to most metro stops. I just hope there are enough boutique flower purchasers on H street. But if "Spoiled and Rotten Kids" can make it, you never know!
I actually completely disagree with Big Dog about the price issue. I've found that her prices are very competitive with other florists. Sure, it's more expensive than what you pick up from a stand by a metro, but that's not a fair comparison--the quality is completely different. Debbie's flowers last for a long time, and her arrangments are beautiful.
If you can't make her normal hours, I suggest giving her a call--she is normally happy to meet you at another time and delivers.
I've used them a bunch. I may have paid a de minimis amount more that bigger shops but when my wife wasn't home to receive the flowers, they checked back twice until they could hand them directly to her. Try getting that elsewhere.
Indeed, 11:14. Debbie is super friendly and personalizes the orders. I've called her before to say I may be a few minutes late and there was no problem staying open a little longer. I believe they are open Saturdays as well, but am not positive.
One time I waited a few minutes outside the store while she was on delivery and she gave me a discount for my time.
Debbie did all the flowers for my wedding back in December. Her prices were competitive and her service was great - the flowers looked awesome, lasted for a long time after. I would definitely recommend.
I like her a lot. She's extreemly nice and knowledgable of her product. My ONLY wish is that she would provide more do-it-yourself bouquets - you know, the kind you take home in a plastic bag and throw it in your own vase, but I think her preference is that she does the arranging for you.
Nouveau Fleur certainly is probably not cheaper than Trader Joe's, Safeway, Harris Teeter or even Whole Check, but it offers great service and selection, is pretty competitive in it's pricing, and I feel good about shopping there. It's right in the hood! It's like going to Fragers instead of Home depot. So i shop there when i can, if they had the same hours as Murry's i'd probably shop there more!
Seriously though, the last time i picked up flowers from there i was ask to name my price range before the arrangement was put together, which was nice. It was totally affordable and looked cool.
Granted the prices are on the flowers at those other places too. I just think the service and selection is better at Nouveau and the flowers seem to last longer.
I hope the place can stick around for a while and even expand into a full service lawn and garden type of deal and do some other types of community outreach and services. Flowers are nice but i think Swampdoodle, and the whole Atlas District is prime for a flower shop/lawn and garden emporium.
i don't give a damn about this commercial celebration, mothers day is all days, think about that. give your father viagra and let them have a good time.
