A friend of mine was walking to the Bank of America on Hst, the western one of the two, at 3pm today. There was a group of 8 young males. He judged that they all were between 14-18yrs. One of them ran up to him from behind and hit my friend in the back of the head and ran back to the laughing group. My friend was shocked and went quickly to the bank. He was amazed that none of the bystanders on the street took notice. The incident didn't stop there.
My friend exited the bank, walked east and 2 blocks later, the same thing happened again. My friend has been in the US for 8 months without any incident and is about to leave in 2 weeks. He did not call the police, in hindsight he said he should have. He just wanted to get out of the situation quickly. And again he was amazed that none of the bystanders took cared.
Nothing is broken, but he has a major headache, and his thesis is due in a few days. Thanks a lot boys for not only making the neighborhood bad, but our country as well.
I'm sorry that that happened to your friend. He can still file a police report if he so wishes. If your friend was knocked out (it sounds like he wasn't), or hit really hard he should seek medical attention. that kind of stuff can be dangerous (or deadly) days later. he should at least get checked out at the student clinic. Head injuries are no small matter.

I'm sure Elise will post this, but if you need a Monday morning fix, see the Roll Call articles on H Street.
