As a side note; any word on what is going to happen with the expected construction of the site. Has the economy pushed the construction out to infinity?
I'm looking forward to getting those great fresh organic items I have missed for months.
I want to put in a plug for the excellent, if less trendy, Farmer's Market in lot 6 at RFK - just south of Benning Road. There is always an incredible amount of selection and really good prices. I discovered it accidentally one day, and was very impressed!
random side note: there was apparently a fire at an electronics store on the north side of the 800 block, near stan's clothing on the intersection of 9th and H st
lots of fire trucks and police re-routing traffic. anyone have details? a man who appeared to be the owner or at least someone from the store was across the street and looked quite distraught, an older asian gentleman.
I too can't wait to go to the farmers market but I wanted to add some sad news. I think that the man (Peter) who sold the great goat cheese and the goat cheese tarts died over the winter. (assuming I've not mixed up people). I found this out from friends who go to the tacoma park market as he also used to bring his product there.
Donne Murray was managing the market. However, Dan the pierogy guy was not there. Some new amish farmers were there, but you have order chicken in advance for some reason. It was great to see everyone.

Apparently there's an Amish farmer who will be selling pasture-raised chicken this year.
No new bakery, though.
Bernie Prince sent us an announcement on all of the new developments for this year (including a VERY exciting new vendor - Dolcezza Gelato!!!).
We wrote it up over at Capital Spice this morning, too.
(doing my happy dance)
Pierogi guy?! Frozen? Fresh? details please! mb
Is Donne Malloy-Murry no longer the market manager? If so, huge loss.

Dan, not Peter, is the name of the goat cheese guy. He does work with at least one business partner.
