Looking at the drinks menu:

I wonder what the "Country Club White" and "Country Club Amber" could be?

Anyone?

CC White and CC Amber, are the beers on tap

Wow! I don't know how I missed that it is partially owned by Ann Cashion - very exciting!

holy smokes - their menu looks pricey for an H st establishment. Hopefully they will have some kind of decent happy hour. H st needs a place where we can get a bud light for $2.50

From the photos posted it looks like the upstairs could be GREAT for the moms/dads-with-kids set. I hope they think about doing kid-friendly daytime things-- before they open for the adult crowd to come in and eat.

Have you been to The Pug? Pretty respectable beer list there.

CC White and CC Amber, are the beers on tap...I was kind of hoping for a bit of insight into what these beers actually are. For example, are they rebrandings of established brands (e.g. the Argonaut's Booty Beer, which is Red Hook ESB), or does Joe Englert brew the stuff in his bathtub.

Inquiring minds want to know.

Looks creative and lots of fun ! Wish it were 18 holes instead of what I understand is 9--the old indoor course near the Old Post Office had 18 long holes. Still, this looks like a solid thumbs up from the limited pictures. Joe's got another winner.

A bit hesitant about the menu. Cashon has a wonderful reputation and always seems to deliver the goods. But the prices for Mexican food, no matter how good, seem high in today's economic climate. I'd also add "Anglo" selections.

This is great - now I want to start pestering Joe E. about when he's gonna finally open up Vendetta!

I would like to see a Beach Bar or a Tiki Bar with sand and large umbrellas and great mojitio's

$6 pints, $4.50 bud light bottles, appetizer tacos 2 for $8?

Funky as the atmosphere is, even Matchbox doesn't try to charge these kinds of prices. It's going to be hard to make this place more than an occasional stop.

It does it does it does. I thought Pug was going to be that place...

Anon. 12:23,

The prices at matchbox are roughly the same. There is only one draft beer for $5 (all other drafts are $6) and the bottle beer is $4. Hardly a drastic difference.

I'm more than willing to pay a tiny bit extra if it means there is another nice dining option on H St. rather than another boarded up storefront that screams "Go Away".

Support your community.

I will and do support it, J.J. It's just easier to do it when I can get a $3 Tecate tallboy at Red/Black during happy hour vs. a $5 12 oz can at HSTCC. This place is going to do fine bringing in traffic on their own, but I don't get the impression they're looking to bring in the community so much as they are the hipsters. Given the cost they spent to build the joint I can't blame them. I don't care enough to be amongst that crowd that I'm willing to get fleeced, that's all.

For those concerned about prices, I am sure our house draft beers, daily specials and special nights during the week will satisfy those on a budget.

Also, our El Norte menu of wings, dips, nachos, quesadillas and other dishes should be affordable enough that you can eat here at least twice a week without feeling guilty.

Hipsters are nice, but at Argo and GM, neighborhood couples and families are the backbone of our businesses. We will not turn our backs on our neighbors. We are dedicated to being the best Mexican place in town, and we want our neighbors to join us at least once a week. We want them to be happy that they can walk just a few blocks and have not only a special occasion restaurant, but a staple of their weekly dining lives. Thanks so much for being supportive during our buildout period. We thank you for your belief and positive words for us!

Joe-

DESCRIBE how a $6 draft beer is helpful to someone on any kind of budget...
