Teddy Folkman in the Tabloids

Apparently the current issues of US Weekly and Star Magazine have features on the Next Top Chef and photos of local contender Teddy Folkman (Dr. Granville's).

Whether or not 'picbuddy' has it right, I'm pretty sure that 'neo' is a shill for a group of snarky photoshop-a-witty-caption sites that includes Food Network Humor.

He came by our site and made some jerky comments when we posted our interview with Teddy on Wednesday morning.

Interesting catch, Kenny. Wonder if it's true?

Saying IN PRINT someone got sick at a person's restaurant when something like this can never be proven?

You're right. It could have been serendipity that three out of four people got sick at the same time after having mussels together at the same place.

That said, in general I wouldn't even particularly fault GM's -- I've gotten sick after having mussels more than once in my life, and I've generally considered it just something that happens sometimes with eating mussels. So you're right that it's probably not relevant to the question I was asking, and unfair to GM's. My apologies.

mussels are bottom feeders. Their real value is cleaning up the water. I don't get why hipsters like 'em so much.

mussels are delicious. people all around the world have been eating them for bazillions of years. they are not some trend for "hipsters".
people eat much worse than "bottom feeders" anyway. get out of the house once in a while.

I agree on the quality of late at GM's (by that I mean the since appx January). The mussels haven't seemed to take on the flavor of the broths as much. And the frites are very "meh", whereas before they were "WHOA!". They don't have the same crispness as before. My friends who get other menu items have mentioned they feel those items have been inconsistant and that ordering the same thing twice doesn't necessarily result in getting the same meal twice.

Umm no. The toxins that typically cause food poisoning in shell fish will usually cause symptoms in 30 mins to 2 hours. Not commenting on this specific incident, but "food poisoning" is a general term for many infections caused by a variety of microorganisms and associated toxins, with very different onset times for initial symptoms.

I wouldn't discount someone's claim of food poisining, but the appropriate forum is the restuarant itself, not an anonymous blog comment. Any serious food establishment would take such concerns seriously, and if they do not, the next step is the health department. Posting an anonymous comment is passive aggressive and vindictive. It doesn't address the problem or give the establishment a chance to defend itself or remediate the problem.
