my husband and i went the other night (upstairs)- i have to say while the atmosphere is great, we still think that napa 1015's mexican night on thursdays has much better food (and cheaper).
Seriously, HSCC? You take 2 years to open and then close after 4 days? I had family visiting from out of town and we stopped by, only to be most unimpressed.
i went around the corner to HSCC for the first time last night. Wow, my wallet will need some time to recover. Service was spotty (I'm willing to overlook that, as it's been open so little time) but those prices are insane. It's a bar not a nice restaurant--I'm not happy to pay as though I'm in a nice restaurant. I hope they adjust cause I want to hang there...
1) for the type of food they serve, in DC, these prices are not as out of whack as people seem to think. It's more expensive than cheap enchiladas and burritos, but that's not what you are getting.
2) they have a bar menu downstairs with lots of stuff for less than $12.
I went there last night for the first time and the food was good, the service was fine, and the place was really cool. Moreover, it was PACKED by 8:00 which all bodes well for showing that the neighborhood being able to continue to support more businesses.
I didn't really have any complaints. I suppose, though, maybe they could eventually consider expanding the menu options to include some medium-priced fare? Not going to keep me from going back or anything, it just depends what kind of crowd they are trying to attract.

They had to close down so they can mow and water the greens after a busy weekend.
That's the final straw! I will never darken the threshold of HSCC again!
NEVERMORE!
In case you're wondering, the parking meter on the mini-golf course is fully functional. Cost me $0.25 to find that out. ;-)
Jamie, does that mean you could 'park' at that hole before you got a ticket?
Paying for a hole is not new to HstNE.
