HOMICIDE IN THE 2000 BLOCK OF 16TH STREET, NE
Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide which occurred on 16th Street, NE.
At approximately 3:50 a.m., on Sunday, June 7, 2009, members assigned to the department’s Fifth District responded to the 1400 block of Okie Street, NE for the report of a shooting. Through a preliminary investigation, officers discovered that the shooting occurred in the 2000 block of 16th Street, NE and that two victims suffering from gunshot wounds from the scene were transported by private vehicle to an area hospital where one of the victims was subsequently pronounced dead at 4:37 am.
The decedent in this case has been identified as 22-year-old Jerrell Haney, of the 4200 block of Argyle Terrace, NW.
The identity of the other victim is being withheld at this time, because he is a potential witness in the case.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
