Grim and Foul Smelling Problem on 5th
I received an email earlier today from a resident of the 800 block of 5th Street. The resident informed me that a gentleman in his 60s unfortunately passed away in one of the residences. It seems that his body may have lain undiscovered for a period before it was removed on Thursday. The problem now is that the smell has not gone away and can be detected several doors away. Residents of the block have contacted the Ward 6 Councilmember (whose staff are working on the issue), as well as several DC gov agencies. Thus far they have not been able to reach the surviving family members to see about getting necessary clean-up of the scene to abate the stench.

You had me at "abate the stench."
oy vey!
will this stench keep people from hanging out in front of my house? Is there a rent-a-stinky corpse outlet that delivers?
If it smells anything like the rat(s) that died inside my walls, prepare to invite your friends over for stogie-smoking parties for the next two weeks.
speaking of rat(s), anyone know the best way to keep them the hell away? i tried orkin but they're the biggest rip off ever (i don't see the point in paying $100 + for some guy to come lay traps).
Sounds like a job for Anti-Icky-Poo. It works great on cat vomit as well.

speaking of poo....is this the reason why we have not heard from poo poo in a while?
I heard that poo poo was was deported to Brasil.
I once had to cleanup an apartment where the occupant had passed away and not been found for sometime, and a friend on the NYC police force gave me a tip that helped (in the short term anyway)... Put some unused coffee grounds in a bowl or on a plate and put said bowl/plate in the area affected by the smell. After a short time the coffee scent masks/overpowers the offending odor... It won't solve the problem but can make it bearable in the short term...
