It isn't clear to me whether they are open now, or will be opening Friday. It is clear, however, that work is finally complete on the bar at 1104 H Street. Little Miss Whiskey's has some ownership in common with Jimmy Valentine's so that's sure to pique interests in certain circles. This opening is also the first step in extending the so called arts and entertainment portion (the "Atlas District") west.

heck yes!
Gone are the days of having to walk past 12th street to get beer! :)
Now all we need is a coffee shop somewhere between 10th and 12th on H and I'll never leave the two block radius around my house except to go to work! :)
was wondering when more businesses would open up on the 1100 and 1000 blocks! Can you tell us more about this place?
Here is whats happening on the 2nd floor.

I just walked by it, there's no signs or anything. Just 1104 on the top of the door. Are they going to serve food? Couldn't see anything in the window either.
food? Its a bar. I laugh derisively at your bars with food!
The loiterers that have made the steps of this place their daily hang out and nightly bed are going to be pissed when we start rolling in there and treading on their sleeping space...
I heard from one of the Alter Ego DJs yesterday afternoon that the opening was delayed. Short story- delayed liquor license, open tonight for an open house but no booze until next week.
Official Announcement:
Hey Kids,
We we're all set to kick off the opening night of Alter Ego tomorrow,
Friday July 3rd....but we've run into a bureaucracy snafu.
The host venue for Alter Ego (Little Miss Whiskeys Golden Dollar) is brand spanking new. So new in fact....we were given the honor opening the venue for the first time with our event. A crew of dedicated individuals have worked round the clock to get everything ready to go. The building has passed all it's inspections and has been approved for their liquor license. (here's where the fun part starts) The DC Gov't office in charge of getting the official paper license into the hands of the owner is moving a little slow due to the upcoming holiday weekend. In other words, it will be available Monday morning, but not today.
What does this mean for us? No booze. Yeah yeah, we know...it's a real bummer. But there's nothing we can do about it if we wanna play by the rules.
So here's the plan...
We are going to open the doors tomorrow night for an open house. A sneak preview if you will. There will be some snacks and some non-alcoholic beverages available to visitors. And DJ Shade will be playing some great music as originally planned. If you're interested, please swing by and say hello. You're welcome to pop in and check the place out. We are so proud of it.....let us give you the tour!
And then next week, although we are scheduled to have Alter Ego on the first Friday of each month, we will do our official opening night, with booze, next Friday July 10th. Unfortunately, the no liquor thing is out of our control for the next 5 days and we sincerely appreciate your patience with us.
Yay DC bureaucrats/Democrats
anonymous @ 1:30 bureaucrats can be of any political persuasion. like those pentagon pencil pushers who assured us we'd be greeted with flowers after we occupied iraq and there's no way there'd be any wacky insurgency. those guys weren't democrats. LOL.
Checked it out tonight. No booze, but I wanted to check the space out. it. looks. awesome. The decor is spectacular. I highly recommend checking it out.
Is there a website?
If there is no sign on the building, why would they bother to have a website?
Soul Searcher, I agree with you that bureaucrats can be of either political party as I've worked with both. However, I would be willing to put money on the craps table that in the bowls of the DC govt, the bureaucrats are composed of a majority of Dems.
in the "bowls" of DC govt ???
I must have passeD the place a thousand times...Please add some time of sign, that one can identify
your place of bussiness.Welcome to the strip and much success.
5th Street
This is the same guy that owned a bar on Bladensburg Rd (Jimmy Valentine's - I think) and he likes to keep it very low key. I doubt you'll see anytype of sign out front. Just look for the purple window next to the barber shop.
maybe the lack of sign will keep it lowkey and a mostly neighborhood-only kind of spot?
the whole LA "you can only find it if you're cool enough to be there" kind of vibe?
"you can only find it if you're cool enough to be there" kind of vibe?"
i dont know if that is possible these days with blogs, etc. for instance, i'm not that cool and i know exactly where this place is. maybe there is a secret knock or password keeping me out
Jimmy Valentine's has managed it so far...
I like it that there's not a sign, and hope they don't put one up.
However, they should at least try to paint the front and make it look presentable. The facade looks very run down. It's not very expesive to paint the facade.
I view it as a bar in the DC underground. Let all the neo-G'towner's go elsewhere. I have stopped going to nearly all the bars along H Street because I have gotten tired of all the pseudo-hipsters crowding around. Granville's was great until there was a waiting list.
A little soap, water and paint does not denote Georgetown. It means a little respect for the community that surrounds it. There is no difference between this place and the other slumloads on H street. Enjoy your contrived filthy bar.
WOW.........be nice
FYI, We'll be kickin' Alter Ego at Miss Whiskey's Friday the 11th.

I agree completely with Neo "...paint the front and make it look presentable. The facade looks very run down. It's not very expesive to paint the facade."
I think it shows disrespect for an improving neighborhood to not try and better the outside of your business. I'm not very optimistic about this being an improvement to the community.
So is it open yet? Did they get their liquor license taken care of? I want to go!
Well, their snafu with the liquor license may have more to do with not having their paperwork in order. My understanding is that they were shortcutting the building permit process by bribing building inspectors instead of going through the proper channels. But, they were fairly clever about covering their tracks, so it may not be too long of a delay.
1:37,
that's quite an accusation. Not one I think you should be making. Permit expediting is legal. But that's a different deal.
I was served a more than few drinks I didn't order, didn't argue, naively thinking they might be "on the house", since I HAD NOT asked for another round. I even made sure my friend hadn't ordered them. Nope, charged for every last one. Great customer service, guys.
Beautiful space, horrible crowd, annoying staff.
Should be awesome, but it falls very short. What a waste.
whiskey's has food now, during the week until ten. chef stephan boillan. check it out.
