Streetcar Update

Announcement:
On Thursday, August 6 at 7:00 pm at the Atlas Performing Arts Center (1333 H Street NE), Advisory Neighborhood Commissions 5B, 6A and 6C will co-host a public meeting with Gabe Klein, Director of the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), to receive an update on the H Street-Benning Road streetcar line. The ANCs requested this meeting to try to improve the dialog between the community and DDOT about the streetcar project. It will also be a great opportunity for us to ask Gabe questions about how DDOT plans to overcome potential obstacles to making this streetcar line a reality. The ANCs requested this meeting months ago after the H Street-Benning Road Streetcar Alliance met and decided this would be an important step forward. Meeting information is also available online: http://streetcars4dc.org/?p=55
Thank you for your support, and I hope you will be able to attend this very important meeting!

Thank you for the update. I would love to attend, but will not be able to. I hope someone can go and report out what is said. This streetcar project has been frustrating to say the least, probably because we are so hopeful that it will come to fruition in our lifetime.

Link for those who are pro-street car and would like to let our council members know that we expect them to make it happen in the near future.

We will report on the highlights of the meeting on www.streetcars4dc.org soon after the meeting. In the meantime, please visit http://streetcars4dc.org/?page_id=50 and take a minute to send an email to the mayor, all 13 DC Council members and Congresswoman Norton expressing your support for streetcars. Unless we create the political will to build a streetcar network, it is less likely that it will happen.
