To me the question of how to lobby Congress is key...unless the idea floated in the blog's comments--essentially to carry an on-board generator for when there are no overhead lines--would work. But I wonder if that's possible w/ the current design.

Not related to Street Cars...

This letter was sent to support using the H Street AutoZone lot for public parking after AutoZone closes in the evening.

RE: Parking lot proposal from Park USA, Inc.

To Whom It May Concern:

Our neighborhood is in dire need for secure parking during the evening hours. The area surrounding the AutoZone located at 1207 H Street, NE in Washington, DC is becoming a nighttime venue due to a recent growth in evening business enterprises. Consequently visitors to the area park illegally on the streets within our neighborhood causing great stress and an unwarranted burden to our residents. The use of your current lot as a public parking lot after the AutoZone store closes will go a long way in alleviating some of this stress from our constituents. We recently held a community meeting to discuss the proposal from Park USA, Inc. A significant majority of the residents attending this meeting supported the concept of controlled and monitored public parking services at this AutoZone after the store closes. I have also received electronic e-mails of support from residents who could not attend the meeting. Accordingly, on behalf the constituents in my single member district, I strongly support PARK USA, Inc. in their efforts to operate a secure and professional parking service for our neighborhood. I would request that to the extent practicable, AutoZone give favorable consideration to this request.
