Atlas Arts Partners set to Perform at H Street Festival
Center to host Open House featuring performances and tours
Several Atlas Performing Arts Center Arts Partners are scheduled to appear at the H Street Festival, Saturday September 19th, 2009. On the outdoor stages will by Joy of Motion’s Hip Hop troupe Rhythmix as well as one of the dance centers’ Belly Dance companies. The nationally renowned Step Afrika! will bring their rousing, interactive workshop style performance to H Street.
While the majority of the company will be on tour in South Africa, company manager Gianni Clarkson will introduce the company’s newest dancers to festival-goers and give everyone a lesson in stepping, a dance traditionally performed by African American fraternities and sororities.
The Atlas itself will be hosting an Open House inside the Center allowing visitors the opportunity to have a look beyond the historical marquee to the contemporary, state of the art facility inside.
Many of the Atlas Resident Companies, such as the Capitol City Symphony and the Congressional Chorus will also be on hand to discuss their upcoming seasons and several will be performing in the Great Hall.
Scheduled to appear inside the Atlas are:
• 1 pm Step Afrika!
• 2pm The Washington Savoyards
• 3pm The Congressional Chorus
• 4pm The InSeries

People really should check out the in series programs at the Atlas, and other places. They have some of the most interesting and innovative stuff in the city.
