MPD in the Area
I'm getting reports of police activity last night. One email about helicopters circling H Street, and a series of, as yet, unexplained text messages about cops swarming Kent Place (it sounds like they may have apprehended an armed suspect, but that's based on cryptic text messages, i.e. take it with a grain of salt). Hopefully an update will follow. Kent is a single block street between 9th and 10th one block south of Florida.

I heard the helicopter last night, because it was so loud and close (at 5th and I) that I woke up freaking out. I watched it circle the area for probably 45 minutes, and then fell back asleep. It looked like it was doing a loop focused mostly on a specific part of Trinidad, but not sure.
Chopper was circling North of H, East of the Atlas district, around 11:30 to midnight. Only came near H at the Southern extent of its AOI, and the spot light was pointing North of H. Given that, the Kent Pl target seems correct. (Maybe they spotted a wheelchair?)
Maybe it was because of the stabbing at Subway (8th and H) earlier in the day?

I'm trying to reach my friend on Kent. Based on the messages I received stuff happened there, not in Trinidad.
We live on 10th St, almost directly opposite where it intersects Kent. The chopper definitely seemed to target that area with the light, as well as the u-shaped alley that runs behind our house. We didn't see or hear anything prior to the helicopter, but we did hear gunshots late last week in an alley on the other side of Kent.
Would love to have more information about what happened last night.
A black Jeep Cherokee was either stolen or ditched after it hit a retaining wall belonging to someone on 10th and Kent Place. My neighbor's van was also hit. The cops must've been chasing them because they were soon on the block and out their squad cars chasing the guys. To make a long scary story short and less disturbing than what I witnessed, one of the guys was caught and cuffed and the other escaped somehow in the horseshoe shaped alley. The helicopter stuck around for a while as did the cops who were searching for something illegal that may have been ditched on the block during the chase. After the ditched the Jeep, these guys ran from cops who had their guns drawn. So stupid.
