Where to Buy a Christmas Tree
A reader wrote in asking where to buy a Christmas Tree in DC. I've honestly not yet had occasion to purchase one in DC, but I've seen them at Eastern Market. If you don't mind a drive to the suburbs you can support Cox Farms. Cox Farms is a family run farm that has donated plants and materials to the Trinidad-Ivy City Garden Club. Here is a link to a company called North Star that will deliver a tree if you buy it from them. Prince of Petworth also has a post on the topic.
Shaw has a great garden center called Old City Green at Ninth and N Streets, NW. Old City Green sells Christmas Trees, garland and wreaths, usually with a warm fire and cider to make the atmosphere complete. Definitely a great place to support!
ReplyDeleteDon't they sell them in the Florida Avenue flea market lot in December?
ReplyDeletetrees are also sold at the garden center near the intersection of new york and bladensburg aves. cant remember the name of the establishment..my apologies, I only know it by location.
ReplyDeleteFrager's has great trees. if you want cheap, Home Depot on rhode island will have 'em [but you do get what you pay for, i have found theirs to dry up, which means needles all over your house for weeks afterward]
ReplyDeletethe arboretum after 1:30 a.m.?
ReplyDeleteKIDDING! jeez!
The best trees in the area and possibly the country are at Dan and Bryan's (formerly Sundback's) located at Mass Ave and Wisconsin NW and Wisconsin and Davidson Street in Chevy Chase, Md.
ReplyDeleteI buy mine at Eastern market.
