It's Going to be COLD

Pick up the snow melt, and make sure you have toilet paper and a good dvd/book because you won't want to go out tomorrow morning. Forecasters are predicting a massive thunder snowstorm. The storm is supposed to dump 7-14" inches on us. That's pretty big for DC.

So, there may not be an answer to this as this level of snow may be somewhat unprecedented, but what are the chances there will be bars/restaurants open on H Street tomorrow?

I expect that they will be open. Many employees live in the neighborhood, and we shouldn't lose power because lines around here are buried.

We had a BIG storm in early spring of 2003 that shut down metro, and most of DC for a few days. I'd make sure you have the essentials just because getting around might be nasty, but I don't expect this to shut down anything on H Street.

One of the most random storm memories I have was drinking in the (cash) bar by candlelight while Hurricane Isabel was raging outside.

Any word on any H St. festivities/specials for the thundersnow?

Yeah,

How 'bout a ThunderSnow Happy Hour at the Argo or HSCC??

I saw Joe Englert and some of the restaurant/bar owners late this afternoon and they were all planning to be OPEN on Saturday and Sunday.
They've got plenty of good food and drink - plus the usual entertainment and good company. (And toilet paper since this is snow storm.)
Remember that Tommy Wells wants this to be a "walkable" community, so pull on your boots or cross-country skis and get over there!
There may well be specials galore so check out their twitter feeds.
