B More Sweet: Dangerously Delicious

A Baltimore based food blog informs us that today is National Pie Day and talks about Dangerously Delicious Pies (which should be opening its H Street soon).

What's up with Dangerously Delicious Pies? They sold special offers way back in December (through Living Social) but still haven't opened. I have called twice and been told they are opening any day. Anyone know what's going on? I'm getting frosted....I bought the deal, can't use it.

I purchased coupons also. What is the deal with the opening. I have been past there on several occasions and it is always closed. Bad bussiness Pie Man.......Pie Man,if u read our bolg.Could u give a target date for the opening.This opening soon is a lot of bull.

From what I've heard, the delay at Dangerously Delicious Pies is due to waiting on a city agency. I'm sure they'd prefer to be open now.

Hang in there guys..it's expected to have delays like this when dealing with the city gov't. The fact that their building looks ready to go and has looked ready to go for quite some time tells me that they're dealing with city paperwork etc.

I have a coupon that I'm itching to use as well. Right before xmas they had info on how you could arrange to pick up certain pies there (all sweet, no savories); I e-mailed them last week and they said that they were hoping to open in the next 10 days and they were still "dealing with the District"- most small biz owners in DC have horror stories on that subject. You might have thought you dotted all your i's and crossed your t's, but DC will tell you that you missed some weird umlaut and your doors won't open til you fix it.

They're probably acutely aware that they're losing money every day their doors aren't open so accusing them of "bad business" is just rubbing salt in the wounds.

There really should be a blog started about how inane and ridiculous DC's permit and inspection process is for small businesses.

I'm sure Joe Englert, Cap Diner, and Dangerously Delicious' proprietors could tell more than a few war stories about all the ridiculous fiery hoops DC bureaucrats make you jump through (not to mention the inspection scheduling wait times they put you through) in order to get your business up and running.

I think its disgusting how City Council and the Mayor approve tax break after tax break for the big employers to move here, but can't lift a finger to help out a small business trying to eek out a living while simultaneously trying to revive a neighborhood on the urban frontier.

I can only imagine how much faster H St. would take off if elected officials just streamlined the permitting and inspection bureaucracy from something a little less Marion Barry-like...

I got the Living Social deal in December too--but placed an order for Christmas pies. I went inside on Christmas Eve to pick them up. The lady working the counter showed me all around. It's red inside with cute little stools and counters and tables. I can't wait to go here at night as a change of pace from a bar. She even encouraged me to go check out the kitchen (which looked super neat and clean and smelled awesome!)

She said they had hoped to be open long ago but were waiting on approval of various permits/licenses from DC agencies (and that was over a month ago).

BTW, I bought a Chocolate Peanut Butter Chess pie and a Baltimore Bomb. The Chocolate Peanut Butter Chess was okay. It's odd-we expected a very rich pie but it was like a big brownie pie with some peanut butter in it and just needed to be sweeter.

But the Baltimore Bomb was AWESOME! 3 of us fought over the last piece with our forks!

I can't wait for them to open to try more of their pies!

A friend of mine who is doing major renovations on his house told me that a building inspector came around and informed him, "Today is my birthday."

ie, solicited a bribe

They need to stop saying they are going to open any day or in a week or two. They've been saying that crap since November.

I laughed at the H Street Festival when they told me they'd be open before Thanksgiving!

Good, usually i buy the sweet in baxin.it because i don't like cooking, but this time i ewant try this..
