Treated and released after being shot multiple times – wow! That guy is either lucky or superman.

On a side note,

I witnessed three black males in a stolen car Tuesday afternoon. They drove through 3 stop signs (traveling west on Oates) at 90 mph.

It was a miracle they did not run over any children walking home from school. The incident occurred at 3:30 pm. I confirmed with 5th district police the stolen/abandoned car was found in the alley that runs north/south from Oates.

Whoever owns this car should take it to a mechanic. The teenage driver hit two speed humps at around 90 mph and you could smell the engine in the air ten minutes after the incident.

Police suspected the teenagers were local (their words not mine). Parents please get involved in your children's lives. They need you…

My neighbors say that most of the younger hoodlums that hang out in Trinidad don't live in the area. A lot of them are from further down Benning or Maryland.

My wife told me that two women walking together were robbed at 12th and G NE after leaving Sticky Rice last Friday. I understand there were also two carjackings over the past weekend in the area. Stay alert.

How much does it cost the District to install security cameras at every corner? I will give up my sense of privacy for ensuring that my wife, mother or sister isn't going to be run over, mugged, raped, stabbed, or shot.

This is January. I'm not looking forward to the summer months.

We have had a lot more police in the PSA 103 since the meeting on the rash of highjackings started. However, these days, the cops just sit in their cars on the corner, and read the newspaper, or the car is vacant(like that fools anyone). There was a short period of time, when they went door to door to talk to people but no longer. The police have been less than two blocks away from from at least two carjacking events, but the robbers got away. There seems to be no real strategy to catch these crooks, other than radioing the 6th district. The PSA 103 Loo has just been replaced. Hopefully this guy will be a more active problem solver.
ANC 6A commissioner Mary Beatty has announced a followup meeting on the carjackings. It's Feb 4th, 6:30pm at Options school (14th & E NE)The meeing will only be an hour. Get your butts there, it does matter.

Hi, I'm triniDad (there's a message asking for a tag), and I just found this site. I've been in the neighborhood for several years (since 2003).

I just wanted to elaborate on the comment above:

I had some trouble (bike trailer stolen, etc.) around my place and I decided to install some cameras around my building. I'm not much of a "techie" but I had no problem with the instalation. And the cost was <$100 for 4 cameras. I got the cameras and a video capture card (that I put in my older pc) off of e-bay, but you can get them from geeks.com and other places. I recommend this approach. It's nice knowing what goes on around your place when you aren't there (or are sleeping).

If you believe your neighbors, then I have this great bridge to sell you. You need to wake up. Half of the young people in Trinidad are going to grow up to be habitual offenders. I learned the other day my 12 year old neighbor is now selling drugs for some of his older "friends" who are also Trinidad residents. As soon as he gets caught his "friends" will have no idea he is.
