where will this meeting take place again?
I have always be disappointed that they choose to make the streetcar look just like the circular bus instead of a trolley. I think it is a big missed opportunity to make it stand out and be unique. Bad planning.
Let's not waste absolutely any opportunity to whine. Paint them purple, I don't care. Bring on the street cars.
Please, please, please attend if you any interest in having streetcars in the District.
Committee of 100 will be protesting. They've realized the wire issue will be resolved through a hybrid system, so they are now outright trying to prevent any streetcar system by claiming that DDOT is inept and cannot manage another transportation option.

How many of the Committee of 100 live in DC? How many of those live out side of NW? How does one become a member of the Committee of 100. Perhaps street car supporters should become the Historic committee of 1000. I'm really tired of non elected people meddling in DC projects like they are running a plantation.
Or never miss an opportunity to settle for something mediocre.
So theoretically is there is a chance that after the construction, the tracks are laid, sidewalks torn up and re-built, there will be no streetcars?
That is if the protesters get their way.
Seems a little late to block the cars. Am I wrong?
Will there be weed passed around at this meeting?
Is the Committee of 100 the group that is oposing the streetcars because of the overhead lines blocking the view of the capital? If not, who are these people and what is their beef with the streetcar?
@ Blue Moon. The Committee of 100 is one group. The other is the "Capitol Hill Restoration Society". They claim to want street cars and will point to their sorry resolution that basically can be sumed up as "We don't want streetcars if it means overhead wires." Putting aesthetics ahead of a sound transportation policy is reckless.
@Blue Moon,
Yeah the Committee (and who are they?) and the Capitol Hill Restoration Society, whose garden tour everyone who cares about H St should boycott.
I keep asking: what views of the Capitol from H St NE? And why didn't these dunderheads block the ugly current H St Connection, the Autozone and the public storage unit on H St?
They never answer that one.
"And why didn't these dunderheads block the ugly current H St Connection, the Autozone and the public storage unit on H St?
"
do you know for sure that they didn't try? maybe they we stymied by people who said things like" Putting aesthetics ahead of a sound economic policy is reckless." or something.
I've lived long enough to know that the Capitol Hill Restoration Society didn't even notice Autozone, H Street Connection,Public Storage or Checkers. We lived on the wrong side of town for them to care. Hear anything from them about putting the AMOCO at 14th & Maryland? Yep, all streetcar fans should boycott the the CHRS house and garden tour.
This is starting to turn me against the street cars. I live @ 5th and L....all the back and forth bickering. I dont think anybody knows when the street cars are on line.2012 is unrealistic...maybe 2013....WHO KNOWS...
Is it possible that CHRS doesnt want H St competing with Penn Ave and Barracks Row?
pardon me for not knowing trinidad, but where exactly is the meeting?
when i googlemap it, it puts me on the corner on neal and trinidad, and that looks like all houses to me.
is it the new building on the SE corner of Neal and Montello?
Trinidad is a mostly residential neighborhood. The meeting is at a school. The school basically takes up a block. You can't miss the meeting.
thank you.
