Announcement:
Dear streetcar supporter,
On Tuesday, April 20th at 6:30 pm, Advisory Neighborhood Commissions 5B, 6A and 6C will host a community meeting for an update on streetcars, and we hope you will be able to attend!
The meeting will be at Wheatley Elementary School, 1299 Neal Street NE. American Sign Language interpreters will be provided.
District Department of Transportation (DDOT) Director Gabe Klein and Streetcar Project Manager Scott Kubly will update the community on DDOT's progress toward bringing streetcars to H Street and Benning Road NE. Councilmembers Harry Thomas, Jr. and Tommy Wells will also be present to make introductory remarks.
At a similar meeting in August 2009, more than 100 people showed up to demonstrate their support for streetcars, and following that meeting, DDOT redoubled its efforts to move streetcars forward. We hope you will be able to attend this next meeting to again demonstrate to DDOT that so many of us care about streetcars and want them running on H Street and Benning Road as soon as possible.

They are creating traffic controls in the parking lot at H Street Connection. entrance only off of H St in the middle and exit only at the end by BoA. Also, the one of the owners in the Smile Cleaners mentioned to me that they don't think construction of the new building will happen for several years.
I'm wondering if what is happening with the traffic calming construction is connected to the street car construction.
