Does this mean they're open again? I went twice in recent weeks during regular business hours, but they were closed. This is not a complaint: there was a sign on the door about a death in the family, so it's perfectly understandable that they'd be closed. I just want to make sure that they're open again before heading up there, because I don't normally make it up Bladensburg.

This place is pretty good. Since moving here like 6 years, I've tried to get into the whole crabcake thing. I generally find them overrated. So in a last ditch effort, I checked out Sullivan's after reading about it. Their crabcake is the best I've ever had (I've probably only had like 10 though). But it is much different than all the rest I've tried which have just been a mushy stringy ball. Sullivan's actually had large identifiable pieces of crab meat in there.

Their crabcake has made it onto my rotation of things I will actually plan to eat. Whereas other crabcakes are on my list of "I'm here, there's a crabcake, I guess I'll eat it for lack of better options. They're supposed to be good, right?".

Having said that, I think I'd probably get the seafood salad over the crabcake. Why screw up good shrimp and crab by battering and frying them? You could say the same thing about putting mayo and other things on them, but I feel the "salad" from is more pure than the "cake" form.

I never liked seafood salad until I tried it here.

Sullivan's is now up and running full speed with the new business hours (Monday to Saturday 11am-10pm). During the last couple of weeks, the store was closed secondary to Sullivan having to make arrangments resulting from his mothers unexpected passing. So stop on by to indulge in the delicious menu items. You can also call ahead to place orders so they'll be ready when you get there. The number is 202.399.3339.

Are you Sullivan?

Sullivan is actually named Sullivan. I do know the guy, and I'm pretty sure he'd post under his own name. But the guy does have employees, and a very loyal fan base, so DeShawn is probably one of those.

And again, the shrimp po-boy and seafood salad rock. I think Sullivan makes his own lemonade and iced tea (or at least one of the two) as well. I can't wait to try those instead of some syrupy mix.
