ABRA awarded the 90 tavern license to the Argonaut. The Argo previously held a restaurant license, but its kitchen was destroyed in the recent fire. The hope to get the upstairs cleaned up and operate as a tavern upstairs and outside as they rebuild. Hopefully they'll be able to partially reopen in a month, or two.

well that settles that. fears of Love on H were apparently overblown
I thought that I read somewhere that the Argonaut was planning on expanding its draft selection to 10 or something like that. Is that accurate? If so, do you know if that is still an option?
11:08,
they had planned to put in as many as 12 taps. I think it's still the plan, just delayed.
why not spend your living social coupons on drinks and appys?!
Speaking of Living Social, Sticky Rice is up there again today. I bought 4 last time. I think I might pass this time around
They are always slow and I've gotten used to it and figured there might be a good reason for it, but last night was ridiculous. I sat at the upstairs sushi bar and got to see the slowness in all its glory.
There were three and at times four sushi rollers back there with orders piling up and servers asking where orders were. I got to sit there for an hour before getting my food so I saw a lot of inaction. One of them seemed to have a slight sense of urgency. And when the fourth showed up he seemed to at least care and put forth a decent effort. However, two of them were complete wastes of space. Every time I see a restaurant kitchen on TV, people are working their asses off. These people just seemed to be waiting for closing time and hoping the orders would go away.
In Japan, I think sushi cheffing is highly regarded and requires lots of apprenticeship. I'm not saying we should go that nuts with it here, but can it at least not be some kind of jobs program for people with no direction or drive in life?
Eventually when I asked about my order (I'm sure they forgot it as someone after me got their food, ate, paid, and left) they brought me something that wasnt very good and might not have been what I ordered. I ordered stuff I've had before, but if it was as bad as this was I think I would remember. Oh, and there was a tip jar up there...WTF. They should have make your own sushi night. Just give people the ingredients and let them roll it themselves. I'm sure I could make something that falls apart just as well.
This might not be the place for Sticky Rice ranting, but I dont have yelp account. Someone feel free to post it on my behalf
A TAVERN LICENSE? H Street is gonna go to hell in a handbasket! What about the children? No one things about the children! All we need more G.D. drunks spilling out onto the streets of our cherished neighborhood. Time to start a petition!
Oh, and might I add, the sky is falling.
