and Anon, Inked's post was about a new water ice place, the chain Rita's in the 1000 block of H. Not the existing Philadelphia Water ice...

I have no idea if the owner of this Rita's franchise is Black, or White, or Indian, or whatever. I was kind of assuming that 6:07 knew that the owner was Black.

The Owners are Black 3 or 4 Young Black Males. Not that it matters to you but it does to Afro Americans. ANd as you can see that only about 10% of the inked list still exist and by the time all this revital. is over it will be down to 5%

Anon -

I really dont think the new people coming to this area care what color the people who own the establishments are. Its about the type of places that are opening that define how well this revitalization will go. It just so happens Whites may open businesses that "gentrifiers" will frequent.

For example: The beer garden. I think it would be highly unlikely for a Black person to open one of these bars, but it is something that is clearly popular.

I think if a black person had opened H Street Country Club, or any of the newer places they would've been just as popular.

makes me want to re-view the youtube short "A Brief History of the United States of America" from Michael Moore's "Bowling for Columbine". Glad to see racism thriving just as well as the businesses here on H. C'mon anon 6:07, really?

I'm white and I LOVE Rita's! Regardless, I don't know a single person that would ever ever consider the race of the owner when deciding to frequent or not frequent a store or make any decision, for that matter! I can't believe you are serious. Stop race baiting and contriving false racial dynamics. We have a black president for goodness sakes. As far as I am concerned racism in America is dead.

1:23,
By my count 17 of the 30 places I listed are still open. That's over 50%.
